Featuring: Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, Lily Gladstone, & More!
About Killers of the Flower Moon: At the turn of the 20th century, oil brought a fortune to the Osage Nation, who became some of the richest people in the world overnight. The wealth of these Native Americans immediately attracted white interlopers, who manipulated, extorted, and stole as much Osage money as they could before resorting to murder. Based on a true story and told through the improbable romance of Ernest Burkhart (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Mollie Kyle (Lily Gladstone), “Killers of the Flower Moon” is an epic western crime saga, where real love crosses paths with unspeakable betrayal.

She likely will win because she is a really good actress. Yet (to be honest) she most likely will receive it because the Academy will want to look like they are diverse and progressive. They will present the award to a Native actress at a time when Natives are finally starting to get better roles and more representation in films (Hollywood has been pretty terrible throughout its history). Hence, the Academy Awards will want more viewership as it has been dropping over the years. Without a doubt she will be nominated.

Finally, a movie that honors indigenous people in a positive way. These people sacrificed the city life to live in the harsh conditions in the remote mountains just to stay away from the jews and the negros (negro here merely means black in Spanish as the first Indians mastered Spanish first, because The Spanish were the first to land in America).

@@takiyahaugustine8761 There actually is a plot. The movie is adapted from the book, but the movie is told from a non-Osage perspective. The book plays out like a thriller where the killer is unknown until the very end. Scorsese actually added tons of stuff to the movie that is not in the book, like the scene between Hale and Ernest when Ernest messes up the order, the mention of the 1921 Tulsa massacre and so on. The entire structure of the movie is told differently, including the ending--THAT is the plot.

I think she did a good job but the Osage Nation has issues with her. Start off with, she is not Osage. And she is a very obscure tribe that has nothing to do with the culture of the Osage Nation. Also that in the movie she wears Indian clothing all the time altho the Osage Nation then and now does not. This movie also implies the Osage Nation is one of the five civilized tribes. It is not. The five 'civilized' tribes that moved to Oklahoma (Oklahoma is Choctaw for land of the red people) when the Indian Removal act was passed were Choctaw, Chicasaw, Seminole, Cherokee and CREEK. The Osage Nation actually purchased the land from the Cherokee Nation. I live in the Osage Nation-Skiatiook and family members are Osage and Cherokee so this is from my Osage family members. And a Osage citizen neighbor was a consultant on the film. The main gripe of the Osage Nation is this true story (over 600 Osage killed) is this is Osage Nation suffering and history NOT 'indigenous people's or 'native American' and don't particularly like their history being appropriated by others who wete not involvrd in it. Hoping to see a movie on the Drummond family next. They and the Hughes are the the other two families who essentially stole Osage Land. The Osage own all mineral rights on all land in the Osage Nation and are are currently buying the land back as they can.

It's probably because I don't watch a lot of films anymore, or watch a lot of films with Leo in it nowadays... but seeing him on screen while other people celebrate him is kind of refreshing in my opinion. A long long way from home..

They still do, sadly. Also how they’re taking over some cities in Mexico, by gentrification. They demand only English should be spoken in some cafes/restaurants, they can’t serve spicy salsas because it’s too much for their delicate palate 🤣🤣🤣

I am truly looking forward to seeing this soon. I think Mr. Scorsese will be known as the best filmmaker of all time. The whole scope of it, the masterwork level of craft in the acting, it just looks like a winner from every perspective. She's a wonderful find. Natural. She has a real face. Right? A real face which looks lovely. I watched this and I thought she has a 'mona lisa' quality in her understated and quiet beauty. As a viewer I can't tell you how refreshing it is to see native women on screen and how wonderful it is to see a real woman onscreen. I'm guessing that it is difficult to cast historical pieces because of all of the cosmetics and color work the actors have done now. I can't wait to see this. It should shine at awards time, especially for this breakout actress. These people never make a bad movie. Martin Scorsese has never made a bad movie, ever. People will be watching his movies forever and a day. Leo DiCaprio, also, is a brilliant actor. 'The Revenant' is a masterwork of screen acting. This level of filmmaking is becoming a lost art. I hope that doesn't happen.... ; - )

I grew up soaking wet in budd lake NJ. I followed the creek every day hunting and gathering, lifted rocks, made the rounds in the swamp and woods, and I could hear the upstream swimming suckers and waiting all year for them in spring. My town was purchased from the native for $50. No native cemeteries. I realize now that I had been interacting, been supervised when I thought I had no guidance in the physical world. With the natives, I realize now because they made it clear and it only took 30 years for me to see it.

I'm still trying to figure out what the jenny jump real Truth is, fallen or jump or chased, I think she fell, or maybe pushed, but this cliff hanger keeps playing out in real life until the truth be told. A native was blamed for it.
