I read Killers of the Flower Moon last year, as well as The Deaths of Sybil Bolton by Dennis McAuliffe, Jr. The young mother who is shot while attending her baby in the yard was "Sybil," portraying Dennis' own mother. The baby portrays him in the scene. He was on a lifelong journey to investigate what had happened to his mother and her people and his book is the result. Fascinating. Since I missed seeing the film at the theater, I finally purchased the DVD and watched it last night. The telling of this period in American history is a gift to all of us. Wonderful film with superb acting. Loved it!

DISCLAIMER: I know the FBI are not the saviors of Indigenous Americans. The small number of FBI agents like Tom White (and the surprising fact that J. Edgar Hoover actually wanted the Osage's case handled) does not make up for the reputation the Federal Bureau of Investigation has earned. I was reading the book when news about the film came out. The story of the Osage and Tom White (one of few FBI agents who have fought for Indigenous Americans) is not well known but NEEDS to be.
@1401minstrel11 ай бұрын
As someone who is a big fan of the book, I liked the movie but I didn't love it like I loved the book. I don't agree with the shift in focus. I liked the whodunit aspect of the book, and I don't think the role of Tom White should have been diminished like it was in the film. Also, in relation to that shift in focus, Leonard DiCaprio is 20 years too old to portray Ernest, but he would have been perfect as Tom White if White's role hadn't been diminished.
@bribrirock249 ай бұрын
He originally was supposed to play Tom White. The role was written for him. He wanted to play Earnest instead so he was cast as him and Jesse ended up being Tom White.
@1401minstrel9 ай бұрын
@@bribrirock24 Leo would have been great as Tom White, the way Tom White was written in the book. However, I think the idea to have Leo play Ernest was just as much Scorcese's as it was DiCaprio's.

Lily Gladstone can not act to save her life. In every scene you could clearly notice that she has zero acting ability and she delivered her dialogue with zero enthusiasm. But she will be handed every award this season because of affirmative action/diversity/political correctness. So that liberal Hollywood can get a pat on the back from the native/indigenous/aboriginal people of America. Great, congratulations Ms Gladstone for an academy award that deep down inside you know you do not deserve. Another affirmative action awards season. Giving trophies to people who do not deserve any recognition and can not act worth beans, like Lily Gladstone. Did we not learn anything from the Claudine Gay/Harvard scandal? Stop giving things to people who did not earn it! Stop this affirmative action/diversity/political correctness!

Scorsese's made 28 films. Out of those 28 films, only 5 have DiCaprio. So you've apparently not seen TWENTY-THREE of his movies which have nothing to do with "Mr. Leo". Besides, *many* directors often work with the same actors for a few films, it's not uncommon at all.
