Dude, for real. LITERALLY I have not played the game as scary and frightening as this, NEVER. There is something especially scary about exploring the ocean and being deep in the middle of nowhere, having this almost infinite space and seeing almost nothing around you and hearing all kinds of deep water noises and howls and growls. I have played a lot of horror games, including AAA titles (of course) and indie titles. I can confirm that NOTHING comes close to this.

Step 1: Collect Gaspods (20 to be sure) Step 2: Approach Reaper Area Step 3: Launch or place creature decoy (optional) Step 4: Once the repear nabs the decoy, paralyze the reaper by shooting it's head with stasis rifle. Step 5: While paralyzed quickly go to it's nape and QUICKLY release multiple gaspods and get away before they detonate. (Avoid the mandibles, it can still grab you. Also get as close as you can in It's nape to make sure all gasopods explode within the reapers range, don't worry it can't grab you from behind) This is pretty easy and if done correctly it will kill the reaper in less than 10 seconds. The Gaspods deals heavy damage and is extremely lethal when stacked so make sure to scram as fast as you can after releasing.

I've seen in another comment section another way to kill it : use your prawn with regular arms. They did more damage than drills. Get to him, let him grab you and throw as many punchs as you can. When he released you, repair your prawn and go on. Totally works for me and it's so epic. Hope it helps someone, great vid btw !

It would be really cool if, once you deal the final blow to the Reaper Leviathan, it lets out a huge roar unlike anything you've ever heard, notifying the rest of the Leviathans in the game. Then from there, all Reaper Leviathans start patrolling shallower waters in search of you. I know the devs kept that from happening for balancing and scripting purposes (ex. Reapers getting stuck in the map geometry) but how awesome would that be? It's like initiating a hard mode and just more reason to fear these creatures.

Just a little tweak to the tutorial, don't take your seamoth too close to the reaper, just leave it about 100 m from the reaper to be safe because he may sometimes lose interest in you and attack your seamoth if it's too close

I googled it earlier and apparently there’s 25 reaper leviathans on the subnautica map and I killed one earlier that was hanging around my base.

You can also freeze them with the stasis rifle and then drop gaspods next to them this Will kill them really quickly. The gaspods can ge gathered from gasopods in the safe shallows
