Hey everyone. I'm typing this out pretty quick, so hopefully I get a message across here. Honestly didn't expect this project to do this well at all, but I'm glad you're all here. Grew up listening to music like this, and I've been a big fan of recent metalcore (Invent Animate, The Amity Affliction, mid 2010s Architects, Silent Planet, etc.) I had recently seen and listened to some "remasters" of this song. My Curse is a personal favorite song of mine from that era, and I just felt that a lot of these remasters didn't cut it (no offense to anyone that tried.) As someone who started learning to make music at the age of 12, it just felt like I had to do my own spin on it just to know how it would turn out. And so came 2 days of messing with this classic and trying to make it sound fresh. To be honest, sometimes giving a song a modern spin doesn't make it better. The songwriting itself has to be really unique, and that's where we can appreciate how timeless this song is. If my manipulation can make this song sound like it could have been released recently, that's not just my doing. It just shows how legendary this song really is. So thank you all for the kind messages regarding this project. I'm grateful for the feedback as well as just the simple appreciation comments.

HOLY SHIT It sounds massive, bringing back the clean sections in the “regular” song is genius. Both behind the melody and in the “new” sections. Them guitars are just💋

honestly this is better phrasing then the original, that breakdown into the end is a chefs kiss outta 10. My only nit pick is the drums being simplified compared to the original composition. Other than that, 10/10

4:10 from here to the end of the song legitimately might be your best work on this. This is what makes somebody's rendition or remix or cover special for what it is. And that is to showcase a version of a song not only through the original artists lens but applying your own filters so to speak and when it comes together as cohesively as this anding, I think that's what's truly special about this stuff I can't tell you the amount of times I've heard this song and especially the outro when I was trying to learn it on the drums which took me longer than I've ever taken for any song but I had absolutely no idea which way you were going to go at the end of this and be surprised you can get every little possible point

This mix you made here is actually really fucking good! Not only did you organically extend some parts of the track using pre existing parts but you also added little bit thats actually flesh out some parts of the song and a bit of nice weight to it. On top of that, you made the vocals feel like they hit a bit more with the tempo of the tune and the drums just sound fat as fuck! Honestly, from a music enthusiast, music obsessed weirdo and a somewhat music producer myself, this fucking slaps! Well done bro
@bobbyjorgensen83438 ай бұрын
Actually it's not a mix at all. He used another version of the song killswitch released sometime ago. Most people don't realize they released two diff versions of this song....this dude did nothing but add visuals.
@stevenrevan30288 ай бұрын
@@bobbyjorgensen8343 I’m aware there’s two versions. This dudes mix is a mixture of both those versions. Hence why I said how he extended HIS mix using pre existing parts from both versions. He did a bit of his own eqing and production on it to make it feel more heavier and crispier, you can also tell he messed around with the transients as well. He also eq’d the vocals too, which made them sound better in my opinion.

@@stevenrevan3028 I definitely did all of these things on top of using my own drum triggers to create more punchy drum production. It's one thing for someone to be ignorant but to accuse me of doing practically nothing when I have the project files for this is absurd. I'm glad you could hear these things though.

Very nice! I love the way those accented ride bell and rim patterns are during the breakdown. They sound super bright and they sound like they are sparkling/dancing like stars now instead of being buried

Okay you had to go and totally surprise me going back into the chorus from that bridge... That little fucking reverse fade in kind of thing 🤌🤌 very choice. You get a new level of appreciating the thickness...the T H I C C N E S S after that juicy burger of a riff when it's faded in like that instead of just cut back in the way it was before, just being a harsh sort of cut instead of a slice slide in like that
@anterionan473111 ай бұрын
The main riff (0:21-0:38) sounds AMAZING, the echoiness and whatever else you did gives it a dreamy magical feeling it doesn't have in the original. The rest is an improvement too, but I feel there's some overcompression, especially in the drums, drags the mix down a bit.

Thanks for your feedback. Yeah all of this happened within literally a couple of days and I'm working on some bigger projects myself at the moment so.. Figured it'd be better to put this version out than spend too long on it with the possibility of never putting it out at all lol. I specifically wanted to make sure that the song had this new, dreamy sort of vibe to it so I'm glad you hear it. By the time I finished it, it felt like something that Jared Dines and Howard Jones could've done for Sion lol.

dude this sounds great, wow!! I'm so happy I clicked on this video! besides the cleans in the chorus, what else did you do to remix the song? the "breakdown" part you added sounds huge, a great twist! the pause after Adam singing was sick! the cleans in the chorus sound beautiful!
@thewahoorecords6 ай бұрын
New triggered kick/snare, EQd cymbals/guitar/vocals/pretty much everything, reverb on certain tracks, mastering, guitar pitch shift in second half of the breakdowns, remove drums partially in pre breakdown.. I'm trying to list everything I remember doing but it was a task lol.

Good stuff bro! KSE all day! Subscribed just to hear this during my workout! haha. Now do some AIC bro. Maybe the song Rooster? Layne was the greatest vocalist of all time IMO. Emphasizing on his screams would be awesome. It's hard to do anything with what he already reveals but that added clarity you gave in this song as well as adding some of his screams like you did here would be epic! Be blessed!
