Man I want this song to be the anthem of my life. I have Asperger’s syndrome and this hits HARD. “Imprisoned inside this mind.” “The echoes of my voice follow me down.” and “Running, always running into the distance.” Are all exactly what i feel and say to myself sometimes. I get through it though. I’m trying to use it as an asset instead of a detriment in my life. That strategy has been working so far. I remember when I was first getting into metal back when I was around 14/15 and I was randomly browsing the On Demand music videos and I kept randomly checking out each band listed and when I got to KSE, it was this video and it blew me away. I was used to hearing very harsh metal vocal stylings (a friend of mine introduced me to bands like Korn and Disturbed to get me into metal and while not "harsh" vocalists, they weren't very smooth clean vocalists) but the smoothness and richness of Howard's voice drew me in and how it seemed to have a never ending well of power. The guitars soared and had such a crisp sound to the riffs and the drums carried that resonance with a crashing force. To top it all off, Adam D's background vox is fucking amazing. The part around 1:54-2:05 where he does back-up for Howard is haunting. I hold KSE with Howard in such high regard when it comes to my introduction into this music still to this day.

Imprisoned, inside this mind Hiding behind the empty smiles So simple (the anguish) As it mocks me Crawling back into the dark Running, always running, into the distance Stop me before I bleed, again The echoes of my voice Follow me down The shadows I cast Follow me down Deeper I'm falling Into the arms of sorrow Quickly descending Into the arms of sorrow There must be serenity The echoes of my voice Follow me down The shadows I cast Follow me down Deeper I'm falling Into the arms of sorrow Blindly descending Into the arms of sorrow The demons of my own design This horror must not remain Deeper I'm falling Into the arms of sorrow Blindly descending Into the arms of sorrow There must be serenity There must be deliverance Deeper I'm falling Blindly descending Deeper I'm falling

I can't get enough. It makes me feel so much. I love this album and this band, as I did in High School when I first heard them. I am only now getting into them again years later. I can still remember walking down a crowded hallway blasting this song through my earbuds. This is probably my favorite album from KSE but all their others are good, too. I need to listen to the others more but I just love this one so much I give it unequal attention.

“There was nothing wrong with Killswitch or the relationship. Everything was wrong with me. I was going insane. It never occured to me to get help. For years, I just tried to fight through it and I was driving those guys beserk. My anxiety was building and building, and near the end, there were a lot of times I’d sit in the back of the bus or lay in my bunk for hours on end without speaking to anyone. Even the idea of having to do a meet and greet freaked me out.” This is why Howard left

AoJB is still my favorite by these guys but As Daylight Dies is definitely my second-favorite. It's almost as if the band was aiming at making it a sequel to AoJB, because a lot of the material has similar structuring, but adds a different feel to it with Howard's vocals.

The lyrics are about depression, the man is jumping because of his sorrow, but others can interpret it as jumping to save himself from the fire. However I believe that the fire is a representation of his sorrow, and he's trying to escape it. Some of the apartment occupants may also represent his sorrow, with the girlfriend slapping her boyfriend symbolizing a broken relationship and the jump rope hitting his foot representing imperfection.

But later, i fell in love with Howie's voice and missed him so much when he left. His voice got such a new breathe for KSE that we'll never forget. He's one of those voices nobody has equal. I also found that when I'm having a bad night of PTSD, it's been your music that has been looping in my head, replacing what's usually there. That has brought me peace. Thankyou so fucking much KSE.
