Good video man, I remember I had the book adaptation of this game, it fleshes out so much that is just skipped/ignored in the game The book ends with Sev contemplating that he just genocided the helghast then forgets about it and decides he’s gonna ask Jammer out on a date when they get back to earth

Radec from KZ2 is my personal epitome of a "Sparsely used, but Devastatingly effective", villain. I was late to the PS3, but honestly, seeing him in the opening, alongside Visari, was enough for a purchase. Edit: It helps that I both like Malcolm McDowell, and Ray Winstone

One of Killzone 3’s BIGGEST missed opportunities is the fact the civil war didn’t happen earlier in the game. Having the Helghast military and Stal’s forces would’ve been a great way to shake up the gameplay towards the end. It also would’ve been great if the standard ISA forces were to join up with some Helghan dissenters. That would’ve been a great way to show how the people of Helghan were by no means monolithic and explain how you still have a bunch of allays.

I will honestly will never understand the lukewarm reception these games got. I've played nearly every notable FPS starting with Wolfenstein 3D up to now. Killzone really stands out to me with its gritty art style, powerful weaponry, and sound design. There's just nothing else like it, a highly polished but unapologetically brutal and ultra violent work of art.

I always saw Rico as a reflection of the Helghast. He hates them as much as they hate Vektans. So his hatred resulting in his death similar to how the Helghasts hatred and need for Conquest indirectly resulted in the death of everyone on Helghan seemed fitting. Also I find it really funny how you went throughout the whole video without mentioning Natkos absence. Or rather demotion to coop buddy since it's obviously not Rico. Moreover I think a prequel game taking place during 1st extrasolar war would be a nice comeback for the franchise. I would even settle for a book detailing that time. Like the politicking between Earth gov and the Helghan administration leading to the first war showing how both sides contributed to the increased hostilities of Vekta and Helghan (Helghasts still aren't the good guys despite what many in the community would like you to believe).
@evprince4 күн бұрын

@Oppen1945 Oh... It's you. "despite what many in the community would like you to believe" They're not "good guys" sure. But the thing is, you in particular have been debunked on so many occasions regarding the Helghast, who according to you "aren't the victims" when in fact they ARE (the lore literally supports this) and time and time again you've been proven wrong despite your stubbornness. I remember those posts you made on that Helldivers 2/Killzone video lol

I never played KZ3, or any of them for that matter, but 3 always held a place of nostalgia for me. Mostly because I managed to find a copy of the game's novelisation back when I was 13 or so. It's weird how the book manages to keep the "war is hell" vibe from the second game better than the actual game, especially when describing the swamp. I still remember it pretty well.

Sony should’ve brought back this and Resistance instead of wasting EIGHT YEARS and 200 MILLION dollars on Concord. Both of those franchises have an already existing fanbase and people who are curious. Even if it was only a marginal success that’s still better than what happened with Concord and will happen with Fairgame$ (the writing is on the wall for that one as well).

So not only did Visari's murder at the hands of Rico dammed the remaining ISA forces and made the whole point of Operation Archangel completely null and moot, but Rico also inadvertently pissed all over his friend's grave by doing the ONE thing he WASN'T supposed to do. Thanks for the retrospective! Really makes me wish for a Trilogy release on PC. Even if the story for the first and third is... lackluster, the game-play always gets better. I'd like to just be able to play the 2nd game again. If the price of admission required the other two, I wouldn't mind it. As for the trope: A Mary (or Gary) Sue/Stu doesn't have to be the protagonist, they just have to be a character where the universe bends it's back to reward and otherwise, fail to punish their flaws (if any exist.) They can do nothing wrong. Even when they make a "mistake" it's never something that actually costs them anything. They tend to have non-consequential or non-relevant flaws. Rico is the one character I routinely hated throughout both Killzone 1 and 2. To Find out he doesn't get punished in some way for Killzone 3 just makes me feel disappointed at best and really annoyed at worst. He should have suffered something for escalating a war that was functionally over. The one character that honestly deserved to suffer, SOMETHING, got a slap on the wrist and I'll never understand why. I've never experienced the 4th game, so I would be curious to see how that holds up. So that's my vote for it. Thanks again!

You always hate to see a game's vision become somewhat comprised, especially when it's a sequel within a franchise. I'd been on board since KZ way back, so the narrative in this game made it very difficult to stay immersed. I enjoyed the gameplay just as much as the characters/story, but it was hard to not feel pangs of irritation when certain characters would just cracking "jokes". That part in the chopper where you've been taken prisoner was a real vibe-killer specifically because it felt like there were about to be some serious stakes until Dipshit McGee start talking shit. The guards should have tuned his ass up hard, but of course the were ordered that no harm come to him....ugh. It seems like a touch game dev/publisher situation where the previous game didn't sell well despite the glowing reviews, and since these games in particular were incredibly expensive to make (and the money is on the screen boi damn dem graphics) it meant getting more conventional with the design of the third entry. And in doing so they game was able to get a fat heap of money poured into it once again as Sony must've really believed in the Killzone IP or the devs or both.
