One of the best kiln opening videos I've seen! I like the variety of items and colors. Your format for giving the "recipe" for each piece (body, specific glazes with order and details) is PERFECT!! I wish everyone would use this format because it's so informative. I'm sure this detail will give newbies (like me) a better chance of early success and inspiration when getting into the craft. Hi Marie ! Just love your teaching and the very useful videos. Please tell us what is the best way to put a clear glaze on top of underglaze because many times the colours smudge away! Thankyou again!

Thank you, I always allow the underglaze to dry thoroughly, then apply the first clear coat with only one brush stroke. If you go back and forth with your brush on the first coat, you can smudge the underglaze. After the first coat dries, you can brush back and forth with the second coat of clear glaze. You can also use clear dipping glaze or spray on the clear glaze. 😊

Great kiln opening. One suggestion, though, please. if you are going to use the rim of the kiln for ware display, place something on the rim to protect the kiln and my ears. The sound of the mug bottoms on the firebrick is like nails on a chalkboard. And I shudder for the kiln with firebrick dust being created with each sound. Keep up the awesome work! 💕

Marie, those are beautiful combos! On the blue ones, did you do full too to bottom coats of obsidian and indigo float? Or did you gradually decrease how far down you went?

Thank you, Debi. Yes, I glazed the whole mug with obsidian and Indigo float. Next time I am going to put another coat of Indigo on. I noticed the indigo is really not a big floater unless it is pushed with a glaze like oatmeal, seaweed, and of course Pearl White 😀 Check out the vase and planter in this video.
