I loved the kiln opening 😍 everything turned out so beautifully. Made me want to buy obsidian to put under some of my other glazes. The Albany slip brown looks like a great glaze as well. Congratulations on an awesome kiln opening

Hello, I’m Ron. I love watching your videos, your voice is so beautiful, calming, and you are great at making the videos full of content. You’re editing is perfect. I took a ceramics class in high school, but that was 20 years ago. I wanted to start playing with it again so I bought some clay on Amazon expecting it to be similar to what I used. Unfortunately it’s air dry clay and I am finding it difficult to figure out what to do with it. I don’t seem to be able to think of what I should make or how to get started on an extremely tight budget. I live in Providence, Rhode Island and I don’t have access to a kiln that I know of. If you could address these issues in some videos I would be forever grateful. The videos you do have on here are helping me a lot. Thank you for spreading your light among us.

Awesome video. We went to the pottery class a couple of weeks ago, great time and made things afterwards. Love the various glazes. May hand 🖐 thrown clay be used in the kiln? We still haven’t used it yet the instructor said if we’re nervous may stop by to watch our process and help 💝 Thank you for the reminder!

That is awesome Tanya. Yes, you can fire your clay to the temperature or cone size that it indicates. Your instructor will know what firing temperature your clay is. Thank you so much for sharing. 😊

Love your glaze combos! I am a beginner at ceramics, have been testing floating glazes and they tend to run down so much sometimes they stick to the shelf. Any advice on that? Your glazes seem to stop running right at the bottom. How do you achieve it?
@PotteryCrafters
@PotteryCrafters 4 ай бұрын
Thank you. Yes that will happen until you get to know which glazes run more than others. If you apply two running glazes the glaze will flow more. Plus the glaze runs more at Cone 6 than Cone 5. I usually apply a stable glaze first then top a flowing glaze on the rim or a third of the way down my piece. I also use kiln cookies which helps just in case. Here is the link for you. potterycrafters.com/how-to-make-kiln-cookies/ 😊 Here is link for one of my flowing glaze videos that may help kzbin.info/www/bejne/q4mQfKidq9lnnrM

Question…you have put a clear glaze on the bottom of most pieces. Are you stilting them in the kiln?
@PotteryCrafters
@PotteryCrafters Жыл бұрын
That is a very good question, Karen. I put clear glaze only in the middle on the bottom where it does not touch the kiln shelf. I can only apply the clear glaze if trimmed my bottoms. 😊
