Nice. It’s a nice comfy mat. The good thing is you don’t have to pump it up hard as it’s thick so won’t touch the floor, so you can have it a bit soft and I found it way more comfy that way. Conforms to your body better This will feel like luxury compared to those 2 mats 👌🏻💤

Nice one, thanks for the review. Found this from your link on one of the ads on Facebook. Is this still a decent purchase. I doubt there's any pads around R4 for the price. It's currently around £80, I'm guessing there's nothing better at that price? Thanks👍🏻

It’s pretty good. It’s not so warm that you’ll sweat. I’ve used it mid summer I just then use a lightweight sleeping bag which is suited to 10°C or high. Very thin. The main thing is this is comfy and the built in pillow is wide

That’s why I have thought about it for a while, so I was very grateful to be sent it. Similar it seems to the trekology ul80 but that has no insulation at all. This pad even laying on it with bare skin you can feel heat radiate back, but a couple more camps will tell all. Not had a night cold enough yet to properly test, but it seems promising. Very comfy

@thebikepackingadventurer
@thebikepackingadventurer Жыл бұрын
My friend has the Trekology UL80 but it is 100% hollow with no insulation. Only suitable for summer in my opinion. He found out the hard way as he was freezing in a winter camp, even with a foam army roll mat underneath. I won’t sacrifice on warmth overnight and I’m not a particularly cold person either. Nothing worse than ruining a trip from lack of sleep. The UL80 is very thin material too so not sure how it stacks up for robustness either. Use my discount code BIKESOUTDOOR for 10% off to make it a touch cheaper

a very helpful review. As noted in comments on other sleeping mat comparison videos, the Denier of the material for durability should be a factor. Can you find details of the Denier as the reason for the extra weight?

It only states high density nylon on website, but looking in to if I bought these as a trade person directly from China (which I’m sure is the case here) looks like the manufacturer states 40D nylon. I think the weight being a little under a kilo isn’t too bad when considering no need to carry a separate pillow or pump. Although to be honest I would prefer no hand pump as I always have my tiny electric pump with me. Good for emergencies I guess. It is a chunky pad too so I accepted the weight for the comfort it gives me. I think it only works out around 200g heavier than my old pad/separate pillow combo previously, but is hugely more comfy, and no trying to find my pillow in the night now

Very well. My most recent video was the coldest camp I have used it. It was -6 degrees Celsius and not any cold spots at all. It would cope with lower temps than that with a foam mat under it too. It’s my go to pad now and I don’t need a separate pillow either

Hi Sophie, I have had a few sleeps on it now and it’s much more comfy than my old pad, certainly warmer but we have had a warm autumn/fall so far. I am camping in the Peak District this weekend and will be a better test for the warmth of it as it should be -4/-5 degrees Celsius this weekend. I don’t tend to focus on r value numbers as most companies embellish. All I know is this one feels warm. Not as warm as thermarest x therm at all, but I don’t feel any uk cold through it. The main thing for me though is the thickness of a pad for comfort. My decathlon one is super comfy too, and if going on lightweight overnighters I will still use that

Similar but not the same. Wolfwalker did the same, I bought one and it was hollow so no insulation. Plus it actually burst at the seam using it once. Cheap copies of everything in this world. Looks very similar and may even be the same but I thought that with the wolfwalker and wasted £32 trying it.

That r rating isn't actually measured, no where does it list the rating using the ASTM F3340-18 testing. It's a scam
@thebikepackingadventurer
@thebikepackingadventurer Жыл бұрын
A lot of pads have r ratings but aren’t ASTM F3340-18 standard. It doesn’t mean it’s a scam so not quite sure why you have felt the need to comment but hey, here we are! I have tested pads that state they have a r rating of 5 or above and are tested, but have felt cold through them, I have also tested ones under 4 and felt no cold spots. Proof is in the performance always in my eyes. Consumers use r ratings as a guide, once you use it and are happy, then that’s all that matters. A scam is where someone is trying to miss sell a product. This is not the case with this pad, in my experience. It is comfy, kept me warm and that’s my findings. I am happy with that and so are many others 👌🏻😊

@@petermclean8243 I think it is about right. I wasn’t cold on it and it was -6°C. I had a foam mat underneath but if I was on my older pad I have always used I have felt the cold floor in warmer temps. It’s comfy, warm enough for UK temps and not £200+ like a thermarest. You will like it
