In Australia there used to be stuff like Hey Hey Its Saturday which was music based comedy variety. BUT it was laughing with people not AT them, nor putting them down. So if someone fell over, everyone would be rolling on the floor and making funny comments but never putting the person down. Korean comedy feels like that. Intelligent, word plays, clever situation comedy. 3000% better than the crap we get these days which is all about abuse.

In South Korea there is a strict culture of respect for elders and younger people have to talk in a certain formal way to people older. The interesting concept about this show is they play out the idea that the guests have transferred to their school and they are all the same age. This allows them to circumvent the usual rules and they can be more open and savage to each other.

Knowing Brothers (also called Men on a mission) is a great show. Based in a classroom with a set team of guys, an ex wrestler, ex basketball player, a rapper from the 80's, two guys from boybands and a couple of comedians. Each episode they have guests called exchange students (thats why everyone is in school uniform) They do random games. Can be really funny, depending on who the guests are. BTS have been on it and various girl groups. BTS is a good episode and also the Shinee episode (although that one is rather sad now after the death of Jonghyun of shinee)

Heechul is a member of SUJU (Super Junior) aka LEGENDS!!! under SM (same one for EXO, NCT, SHINee, Red Velvet ) He is literally friends with everyone in the industry. His personality is very charming, and unique. He is very different than what we assume an idol to be, as he is not afraid to speak his mind. this show is called "knowing brothers" is one of the top shows in Korea at the moment. The premise is that the seven main cast members who are kind of like the hosts and of whom Heechul is one, are students in a school and the celebrity guests they have on for each episode are 'transfering students.' So instead of interviewing the guests, the guests introduce themselves and then start a 'get to know' segment where they ask the members questions about themselves and the member who gets most answers right wins some kind of prize...traditionally a kiss on the cheek from the celebrity :P The best thing though is that instead of trying to answer the questions seriously the members (who are all either comedians of well known TV personalities) basically roast the guests. Like they'll really roast everyone to matter how famous or young or old. So you get to go on this really popular show but you basically have to stand there and get roasted. As kind of a defense the guests are given the toy plastic hammer (that mostly just makes a sound effect) to hit people who give wrong answers or answers they don't like. Heechul, who is actually a member of a very famous Kpop band that's been around for over a decade and also an actor, is known for being a smart ass and a savage so he gets hit especially often :P btw, that's only half the show. The second half they either do crazy improv skits with the guest or either some crazy games or a sing off or something. It's really an excellent show. I just wanted to explain it some because it looks really, really weird out of context. It's still is a weird show but very funny and full of banter

Some hit episodes are on netflix but the translations are a bit wack and jump around the screen a lot and they edit out all the good Korean music with generic bland soundtracks so they wouldn't have to pay for the copyrights. I suggest watching it on Kshowonline.co or 123Kshow. These are actually pirated sites with fan subtitles but the quality is ten times better. If you really want try watching it, the best way to start is to search up specific guests you want to see (like BTS or Black Pink :P ) and you should come up with a link to that episode on one of those sites first. It's just easier to start watching when you care who the guest is. That's how I started but now I've seen all 115 episodes :P

A lot of people shared good info about Kim Heechul. BUT you should also know that he amazes everyone because he can sing almost ANY popular Korean song of the last 30-40 years. He is also famous for doing girl groups dances beautifully!! You definitely should check out Heechul Dancing Girl Groups or whatever it's called - there are dozens of compilations of him dancing out there!! Knowing Bros or Men on a Mission, this show, has a couple of seasons up on Netflix with subtitles that you can watch to get a better idea of the games and segment they do. Most of these Heechul clips are from the beginning of the show and one segment where the guys have to guess stuff about the celebrity guests or get hit with the hammer. As a variety show it keeps things mostly clean because of their audience and sometimes the age of the guests. Heechul can be waaay more savage than this. They've all been doing this kind of things for years on other shows so they have a feel for it and depending on the guests they have more or less dirt on them or know their temperament and how far they can go. Heechul is an idol so he tends to direct his comment towards other idols but he's also close with a lot of girl groups and actresses hence why most of these clips were with the women. He's one of the younger members of the cast as well so some stuff he can get away with saying to a 20-something year old that the 40 or 50+ cast members can't. You should definitely check the show out and other korean variety shows if you're looking for ideas.

If its a first time on the show they play a game where each member asks a question about themselves and they boys have to get it right. If they get a wrong answer they are hit with the hammer. Korean Lesson for 10:04 또는 그 남자 is in four parts parts 또/는 /그/ 남자 또 (tto) almost sounds like a "D" sound. It means "or" 는 (nun) is a topic marker particle that tells the listener that the subject is whatever was said before. 그 (gu) with a light "u" sound like the "u" in "soup", but a bit softer. It means "that". 남자 (nam-ja) is made of two parts ("Nam" and "Ja"). "NAM"s "a" is like the "a" in "yawn" while the "a" in "JA" sounds like the "au" in "autumn". 남자 means "boy" or "man". Therefore, Heechul said, "Or that boy" or "또는 그 남자". As a side note, at 10:00, they say at the end of the sentence: 그 여자 (gu yeo-ja) which means "that woman". If you guys have time, I totally suggest learning Hangul (the Korean writing system). It's really easy and there are plenty of videos here on KZbin to get the basics down. You can learn it in 4 hours with some dedication and practice. Watching some dramas or variety shows can also help you listen to proper pronunciation and read faster - since they kindly put up quotes and stuff. Good luck~ ^_^
