He is an incredible vocalist and has a good career as an actor. Kpop history lesson :-) Like others said he was in TVXQ also known as DBSK . They were the first korean group to conquer the japanese market and open it to kpop . The video is definetly from Japan . 3 of the 5 members sued their laber SM , the most powerful company in kpop, and expose the dark side of the industry , unfair profit distribution , the company took most of the money, contracts made for insane long time etc. Before debut a kid will train for years and company pays everything, food, house, teachers and after debut before making any money the idol needs to pay all company expense past and present . TVXQ was huge I mean huge After the lawsuit SM used all their influence to ban the 3 members who left from tv shows and cut their posibility to promote. Unfortunately because of that and the hiatus do to the mandatory military service the new fans dont know them but they still have a large fanbase mostly in Asia . I love Jaejoong also because he is one of the few that have rock songs. Koreans dont like rock but lucky he has the japanese fans.

He's also very popular with men actually, especially when he was in military, they went crazy over him xD Nowdays he's mostly active in Japan, where they worship him as he deserves, lol. He wrote this song himself btw. He usually does rock, maybe try Mine, that song and MV tell his story of feeling suffocated in his former company, breaking free and then fighting against their attempts to stop him. His MVs (or videos in general) don't have that many views compared to big groups, because we, Cassies, are old hags who don't have time and patience for streaming :D Haha, seriously, there's another reason, his former company has been blocking him from any TV appearance for the past 10 years, so that did a lot... But his concerts get sold out in minute every single time.

There is so much to tell you about him. He was a member of the kpop group TVXQ. This was a very successful group. There were huge and are called the 'gods of kpop'. Jaejoong and two other members left the agency SM, because their contract had very bad conditions. Thx to them the new contracts in kpop are much better now, because they won the trial. They formed the new group JYJ. But SM is the biggest agency in south Korea. So they used their influence to ban the group from television. So they arent so famous anymore. But Jaejoong has still a lot of loyal fans and his concerts are sold out in a few seconds. He was the first idol who made a successful Rock Album and he was the first 'visual' in a group. Jaejoong is huge in Japan....it's usual for his concerts to sell out 15,000 to 30,000 crowds. He's not the biggest name in South Korean music nowadays but he's one ofvthe wealthiest in show business as he's huge in Japan.....and Japan is a huge market.

Jaejoong is crazily popular. As a member of TVXQ since 2004 as first Kpop group that break japanese market and break all record for Oricon chart, he is a main vocal, and visual in the group. In 2011, jaejoong with 2 members formed JYJ (I suggest to react to "Back Seat"). After military in 2017, jaejoong focused on japanese market as soloist and until now he received so much love from japanese fans. But he still active to produce new album in Korea, as his latest Korean album that released in January this year. Meanwhile TVXQ now is 2 members and still famous as God of Kpop/Legend of Kpop in both Korea and Japan as well. Kim Jaejoong made his debut back in 2004, and because because of conflicts with his old management company, that is very powerful, he was not able to appear on Korean TV, nor Japanese until lately. therefore he does not promote like other idols and is not very known by the new Kpop generation. yet his still has a huge fan base especially in Japan. He's really popular in Asia, specially Japan and China, and the new generation of kpop fans don't know him coz he can't appear on tv in Korea due to his ex-company's bitterness. He's a soloist now and his albums are really gold, I'd like to recommend some of his songs (all his songs are truly masterpieces): Mine, Just Another Girl, All Alone, Run Away, Sign, Defiance, Lavender, One Kiss, Don't Walk Away, and many others. He recently released a mini Album in Korea titled "Aeyo (Love Songs)", his vocal there is top-tier! 👍

One of my two most, most, most favourite singers/vocalists.....No. 1 is Dimash Kudaibergen, No.2 is Kim Jaejoong....but of course I love Jaejoong since his TVXQ and later JYJ days....his 2013 album still my favourite. Fantastic rock number from this album JUST ANOTHER GIRL.

It is not often (first time actually, ha ha!) I see these two names together in the comments - Dimash and Jaejoong, - nice! :D They both have beautiful voices, and I like both ~ I've been reallly impressed by Dimash for some time, and I still appreciate his talent and vocal ability, of course, but prefer Kim Jaejoong as artist and performer (and idol/entertainer), especially for his rock songs, and ballads, and retro covers, Korean and Japanese equally ^^ Got to know about TVXQ and JYJ only because he was part of those groups, listened to their songs, but only few left big impression on me, mostly Japanese ballads, actually ;) Classic K-Pop is not really my genre, ha ha! Thank you for the song review, All That Glitter from Kim Jaejoong. I was once a cassiopeans from 2005 which is TVXQ Fan base. Kim Jaejoong was once in TVXQ band. He is the center of the group and visually attract more fan. Once I got married and have my own family, I stop from being fan. Now my kids has grown up and I start to follow him again. It's surprise me that all of his fans still following him and his had new fans. I just start to listen to his solo singles and album. Just knew this song through this channel. Very impressive song to listen and have great lyrics. His voice really can melt people heart.

Jaejoong went from selling out Tokyo Dome with his 5 member group TVXQ (aka Tohoshinki and DBSK) and holding the Guinness Book of Records for largest Official Fan Club in 2008 , to being blacklisted from music promotions since 2009 when he and two other members took their entertainment company to court for slave contract conditions. Bang PD, the producer of K-pop group BTS, said the 5 member group of TVXQ was the perfect group. Many generations of younger K-pop idols still cite Jajeoong as an influence for starting their career, as he was the centre of the most famous group, that could sing, dance, and was highly entertaining. He and the two other members who went to court formed JYJ. Despite the blacklisting, they have not been able to promote their music since, in Korea, on TV or radio.. They have had lights turned off on them at public venues, invites pulled, contracts dropped, made to sit out the back at awards shows. No one is more vindictive that a former Entertainment company who owns shares in TV music shows and threatens to withdraw their artists from other shows if JYJ members appeared. The ban then extended to Japan, where as Tohoshinki they had sung anime openings, and sold out venues and Jaejoong had the biggest individual fanbase. The venue for All That Glitters, up above, was actually a small venue for him as he purposefully wanted a more intimate venue Tour. Take a look at the crowd at the 0:13s mark of this 2013 concert by comparison at Yokohama Stadium, 30 000 capacity. Both nights sold out. Pretty good introduction with *All That Glitters,* but this doesn't even come close to giving a glimpse into the artist known as Jaejoong. For now, I recommend his *Just Another Girl MV & live performance.* As many have said in the comments, his live vocals always overshadow the studio versions. You can see for yourself. I'm just so starved for more people to know about him XD. To learn more about Jaejoong, we must first delve into some Kpop history. I mean, the man has been in the industry for *17 years* & still thriving! He's 34 yrs. old btw. As others have mentioned, he made his debut with *DBSK* as a 5 member kpop group in *2003* under SM entertainment. The group also goes by *TVXQ* (internationally) & *Tohoshinki* (in Japan), so don't be too confused if these names pop up in your research. DBSK is the senior in the industry for many current Kpop idol groups like SHINee, EXO, Red Velvet, NCT, etc. who you may have heard of. This group was HUGE around 2007-2011-ish. In *2009,* 3 of the 5 members (including Jaejoong) filed a lawsuit against SM due to unfair contracts & treatments. They won the lawsuit & ended up leaving the company, forming the group *JYJ.* However, they were hardly able to promote as an idol group as they were blacklisted & banned in music shows due to SM boycotting their own artists, including the remaining 2 members of DBSK. Even though JYJ won the lawsuit, SM still had huge control over their career as it is a BIG ent. company. I won't get too much into the politics & corruptions within the industry, but I'm sure you can imagine. One of the big reasons that many new international kpop fans aren't aware of JYJ or Jaejoong today. Despite the many obstacles, Jaejoong & JYJ (even DBSK) still continued strong as they have a HUGE fanbase (males & females). Fun fact: DBSK held the guinness record back in 2008. The 5 members were originally supposed to debut as an acapella group, so you can imagine just how good each members' vocal skills & abilities are for them to garner such attention from the fans even after the breakup. Without SM restricting their artistic directions, JYJ members were able to develop their own solo careers as well. Unfortunately, the group *disbanded in 2019* when one of the members left the ent. industry due to a scandal. Now, the other 2 members (Jaejoong & Junsu) are active as solo artists. DBSK, on the other hand, is still currently active as a 2 member group under SM. End of history lesson. Whew, that was long! For more detailed info, wikipedia is the way to go~ Jaejoong as a solo artist is quite different from his image within DBSK & JYJ. Whether in terms of vocal tones, colors, or range, he has one of the most versatile vocals within Kpop even after all these years. Ofc, his range is nothing compared to Dimash, but I don't think we need to compare. Dimash is out of this galaxy XD. Anyways, Jaejoong has covered a lot of genres: pop, rock, ballad, r&b, jazz, blues, you name it! He's especially fond of rock & was the first kpop idol to come out with a successful full rock album. He charted in many different countries & continues to do so even now everytime he releases something. He's also heavily involved in his albums as a singer, songwriter, composer, & producer. I can write a 100 page essay explaining his talents & accomplishments, but I think hearing his songs would give you a better idea. I have many recommendations, starting from his DBSK days, but those are for another day. I warned you in the beginning, but nevertheless, I'm still very sorry to make this so long. I don't blame you if you didn't make it through the whole thing XD. I will be waiting patiently for you to react to more of Jaejoong.

The light ocean fans make in kpop is really beautiful. The one you see here is red , the color of TVXQ. In kpop groups, artists have official colours , fandom name and an official lightstick . Initially fans used coloured balloons and home made signs but the leader of BigBang G Dragon wanted BigBang fans VIP to stand out from other fans and created a unique lightstick for fans to hold at concerts. Now every artist has his own design

If you'd like to learn more about the music of Kim Jaejoong I'd suggest the following Korean tracks: Just another girl, Let the rhythm flow, Now is Good, Heaven feat Gummy, Mine (Live), Love you more, Run Away, Rotten Love and For You (Cover). Japanese Tracks: Konayuki (Cover), Glamorous Sky (Cover), Defiance, Ray of Light, Brava Brava Brava, and Breaking Dawn (latest release). His musical releases flirt between ballads, soft/hard rock and some up tempo pop songs. He's a bit of an anomoly in kpop, as he doesn't do much in the way of dancing. His performances focus primarily on his voice. Most of the tracks listed above can easily be found on KZbin. He's been banned from most television and radio broadcasts after a legal spat with his former agency, so his visibility to new kpop fans is quite low. He retains a sizeable fandom though and still manages to sell out mid size arena's in Japan and smaller venues in Korea and in other Asian countries. At the moment, he is primarily active in Japan and is well known. A big musical influence of his is Hyde, a Japanese rock singer who originated with the band L'arc en ciel. I would check them out, they have a nice discography. Their songs my heart draws a dream, seventh heaven, lies and truth, stay away, and my dear are some of my favorite tracks from them. hahaha 😂 im sorry for commenting 2 years later but yeah, lots of his fans are adult and we didnt really give attention to social media, views etc like kids and younglings do. but if it's about tickets, album, merch or something requires attendances or anything physical, we're wild, a little bit more that you'd expect 😂 his popularity used to be like both taehyung+jungkook's before the blacklisted (aka power abuse of his former agency did)
