It's good to have self confidence. Something I think 99% of artists need to learn through experience.

Great video! The point made on how illustration and art share many common elements, also resonates back to some notes I took on how the writer composes themselves when they are writing a story. A conversation with Kim Jung Gi is the gift that keeps on giving since the knowledge and information he shares seems to compound and further develop into other areas of understanding. Once again another great resource to add to the library of resources. It would be interesting to get some insight into the library of resources (i.e Books, Photographs, Videos, Literature, Audio,) that Kim Jung Gi has built during his years of learning.

Does he ever use photo references or does he always draw cold, right from his imagination? Plus he doesn't use any block-ins or guidelines? Unbelievable skill. I really think scientists should scan his brain while he's drawing to see how the visual part of his brain works.
@crowofcainhurst4 жыл бұрын
No. There's an interview with proko where Kim Jung Gi says he only sees things once and store the image in his memory. He has visual library inside his mind and when he draws he's relying on that visual library.

Even without the drawing skill, how do you come up with all this stuff to draw, when I doodle, I create one character and then I'm pretty much out of ideas lol 🤷♂️ So what's he saying, go watch more movies and draw like a movie set 🤔😅
@blakhhh4 жыл бұрын
Study objects, whenever you think of a general concept, Google all the individual parts and look at all of it's shapes. Then take those shapes and rebuild it in 3D into your perspective. Remembering objects in 3D is its own skill that requires a lot of training.

Wait whats this video towards too...? Its kind of confusing. Isnt this video meant to be about "putting story in your art " (for artist or upcomming artist) or is this video about Asian Americans or the film industry? This video is kind of all over the place a little don't you think.
@soggybubble4 жыл бұрын
Like the beginning of the video it was ok it was somewhat telling us to use effects and to use the film industry to help create and give us ideas to create a story in our art. But then it started to get into the film industry and Asian Americans and nothing to do we art or creating a story....we do love me kim Jung gi and his backstory, himself and his wants, etc. But the video was title and the video missleading and and didn't really make much sense of it purpose or the English translation was not right or worded correctly.
@soggybubble4 жыл бұрын
I don't think Mr Kim produce this video I think he just wanted to draw or the producers/directors just made a few mistake, or didn't have enough time,etc.....srry for my banter hopefully the next video will be more thought out and stuff....love y'all
@lee67414 жыл бұрын
I agree with the confusion of delivering what message exactly. I notice the bottom left corner is specifically an Indonesian's Java theme (I see Indonesian rickshaw and woman with hijab), so maybe the whole drawing is about different cultures in Asian's countries.
