We can still say this land is mine. Naturalist Joseph Wood Crooch reminds us it is a privilege with these words. The generation now living may very well be that which will make the irrevocable decision whether or not America will continue to be, for centuries to come, the one great nation which had the foresight to preserve an important part of its heritage. If we don't, we will have indeed lost by just that much the unique privilege of being an American. [I was named after Kim Novak.]

Beautiful video, however I unsubscribed due to poor audio. M Novak, you are loved by so so many! Thank you for what I could hear.

first I am a Kim Novak fan-but in the 1960's studios tried to repackage her as a hippie type, I don't not think it worked, she was always a intelligent sophisticated lady.

It's my understanding that for the movie "Pal Joey" she originally sang her own version of "My Funny Valentine" but the Producers went with a Studio vocalist for the final film version. Somewhere perhaps there is an original recording featuring Kim doing the song herself though the gal who sang for her matched her speaking voice pretty well.

I sure would love to hear her version!

Reminds me a bit of the voice of Astrud Gilberto without the accent.

That's correct: there is an original version of Kim singing "My funny valentine" in her own voice, but who knows where it it...In some dusty archives shelf...

What the hell was going on with 50s/60s Hollywood suits and their beyond bizarre demands to hear operatic voices whenever an actress needed to sing? There was absolutely no need to "dub" Kim Novak for Pal Joey. Nor Audrey Hepburn for My Fair Lady either. But oh no, we had to sit through totally unnatural sounding vibrato'd tra-la-la-ing instead.

Because the studios felt that her voice wasn’t professional enough for the audience.
