So incredibly touching when the doctor goes into his childhood. "Im sorry i missed your golf game" "He doesn't belong here" Incredibly facinating and touching story. Propably the greatest father, sacrificing his entire life for Kim.

At 2 years of age memorized 8 chapters of an encyclopedia, mind blowing, i am a born again christain and find this overwhelming as its so hard at times to memorize scriptures. Brilliant video, powerful dad and Son relationship. What a godly dad. Glory to God for these inspirational men.

At times, he does not even really seemed disabled. I am most intrigued by this absolute genius extraordinaire.

The day I watched this documentary first time, Kim Peek died the very next day. I never knew he was ill at that time and in the end of the documentary they tell how his father is worried about dying before his son. From what I understand, Kim fulfilled his father's desire. Rest in Peace Kim. We all love you.

Shame that he died so young, but when you look at it, its probably good that he didn outlive his dad, i dont think anyone else would be able to take proper care of him. parents could definitely learn something from his dad, such amazing dedication to give kim the best life possible. he could easily have put him in a metal hospital and just forgotten about him. That would have been a horrible, good thing that didn happen!.

Can Kim really remember the EXACT words of that terrible neurologist from his infancy, or did his father tell him?
@helenTW
@helenTW 9 жыл бұрын
Maybe he can, I mean, noone believes me, but I really do remember one moment from my first months. I remember laying in a wooden baby bed and looking at a bright ceiling lamp for a long time, and I remember the voice of my mom whispering me something like "don't look at it, your eyes will get hurt" on a soft voice.
@orangejoe204
@orangejoe204 9 жыл бұрын
+Schoolgirl325 Could go either way with him. But more likely his Dad's outrage and his constant proximity to his Dad percolated into his memory very quickly. Honestly, I think it's a good example of why you can't expect caregivers to have a rational opinion. There wasn't even a name for what Kim had until 20 years after they met that neurologist, and he didn't start to display any signs of savantism for another 4 years. Any 100 neurologists would have diagnosed him the same way. His Dad is simply highly sensitive to the idea that his kid should be diagnosed as hopeless. He's clearly not "hopeless", but certainly he was by the standards of the time.

that number sequence test...i went to a child psychologist at age 25 for an SSI Disability insurance placement and was given a series of questions just like this...and failed because of my short term memory. i was also asked highly personal questions "Do you cook?" which I don't, but by choice, not my fault. My mother's name was placed on my check because I guess they figured I was retarded. BIG MISTAKE! I graduated high school after 4 years of attending, not 8 years, which is required for special needs students, which I definitely was not!
