I have had the Fujifilm X-100T for a couple of weeks now. At first I found it awkward to hold even with the extra grip included in the box. I have now added the Kinokoo bracket (from Amazon) which makes the camera a delight to handle. I found this video excellent as it reminded me that there are a lot of features I haven’t explored yet and the photos and videos Kim has shown us are terrific. I enjoy Maarten's videos and now look forward to more from Kim! (Yes they have a similar way of speaking which is attractive to listen to and very clear!)

Finally a comprehensive review! Loving this review and actually I have the intention of buying XT100 but other reviews just barely convinced me. Mainly because they have problem with the autofocus especially when the subject is moving. Some friend trying to lure me into Sony A6000 and Olympus OMD EM10 Mark II or III constantly when I'm into Fujifilm cameras. May I have your advice on this? Is XT100 worth getting? XT20 is out of my budget range so I won't consider it as an alternative and I'm not into other brands.

@MaartenHeilbron5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind words. I don't know how you define good enough. To some people, a phone is good enough. I would suggest that for high quality architectural work you purchase a wide angle prime lens, many of them are affordable.

Just picked up an e-m10 mkIII and am torn between keeping this camera or going with the Fuji. Love taking photos but am a novice at best and have had issues with blurry photos and not locking into slow moving options. Would the Fuji's larger sensor help with image quality and focusing issues. Both will initially be with the kit lenses. Thanks!
@MaartenHeilbron6 жыл бұрын
It would help with image quality, to a certain extent, but not necessarily focus issues. While I can certainly recommend the Fujifilm camera, I could also recommend that you spend some time playing and taking photos to start to improve your skills with the camera.

@MaartenHeilbron5 жыл бұрын
Set the shutter to 1/60, and the aperture to F4, then finalize the exposure with the ISO. Use the film sim you prefer (I like classic chrome). If you feel the image is a little contrasty turn down the highlight and shadow to suit. If you are holding the camera at a constant distance use manual focus set to the that distance. If not, best use AFC and wide. Set a white balance appropriate for the scene. Hope this helps.

Hi Maarteen and Kim, thank you for the tutorial. Please help me decide on a camera. I want a camera that can give me a better image result than my Iphone 8. It will be for travelling and photography mostly. I am interested in Fuji XT100, but your review said that it is hard to focus on moving objects. I am a mother of a 2 year old toddler, and she's at her super active stage right now. Would you recommend the Fuji XT100, Lumix GX85, Canon m100 or Canon G7X m2? Or even any other camera that is suitable for my needs that costs around these cameras. Thank you.
@MaartenHeilbron5 жыл бұрын
It’s a pleasure to read your kind words. I’m not sure that any of those are much better than the X-T100 - that is the reality of cameras in that price range. For top of line focus features, either the Fujifilm X-T30 or the Sony A6400 would be better. They both identify faces so quickly it’s amazing - but although they are mid-range, that may be out of your budget.

This is the review I've been looking for! I just bought Xt100 last week and I've been wondering how the camera settings really work for a beginner like me. But would you be kind to help me about taking a video in XT100? I noticed that if it's on video mode, the brightness is low. What setting should I use for video? Is it manual? SP or I don't really know. Your response would really help me before I get to travel to Macau & Hongkong this June. Thanks!
@MaartenHeilbron5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind words, glad to hear you found my video. For video, I would primarily use manually setting, with the shutter at 1/60, and the aperture fairly wide (say F4-5.6). Then, to set the exposure, I would let AutoISO do the work if the lighting is changing, or set the ISO manually to the level needed to properly expose the image. That might sometimes be too bright outside, so close the aperture as needed, or use an ND filter. I hope this helps.

@MaartenHeilbron6 жыл бұрын
You could buy a lens with a wider aperture - Fuji makes several excellent lenses for portraits. But you should be able to get a blurred background just by zooming in all the way and keeping your subject as close to the camera as possible while your background is as far away as possible.

@MaartenHeilbron5 жыл бұрын
Not sure what you're seeing that feels like it's zoomed in - can you explain? Does the image change after you turn the camera on? Are the photos zoomed in or just the view? Are you using manual focus (the camera zooms in automatically when using manual focus). Or are you just reacting to the 35mm lens on a crop sensor providing a field of view equivalent to 50mm?
@evelyngarza39315 жыл бұрын
Maarten Heilbron yes, every time i turn the camera on to take a picture i have to step back a few steps because it automatically zooms in, do you know what I’m trying to say? Is like i want to take a picture of something and i have to step back a few steps in order to capture everything i wanted to take, to compare it to my phone , if i want to take a picture the image looks good( its not zoomed in) but if i want to take it with the camera from the same phone i took the pictures with my phone, i have to take a few steps back in order to capture the same picture as my phone,
