It's always a good sign for your marriage and family to have the happy/sad reaction in this situation. It shows that you're happy with what you have, and would have been happy with whatever else comes along. For that I will say, Congratulations on a happy, healthy relationship.

Being a mom who had a 8 and 7 year old when my reset button was hit, I'll admit, it was hard for me knowing I had to start over. I was 38 and happy that I was done with the diaper stage. However, when I found out I was pregnant, I was sad for like 5 seconds then the excitement hit! And now, my little princess is 21 months and she has changed my entire world and now I feel like my family is complete! I'm glad I had the chance to have another baby! I love watching your family! I love that you keep it real! ❤️❤️❤️

This video is 3 years old but I'm just seeing it. I love how honest and raw you are. My husband and I were in the exact same boat as you with the exact same outcome (kids too...oldest is a girl and youngest is a boy...really rough time with second baby). It really is a whirlwind of emotions. Thank you for sharing such a private thing...nice to know not alone.

I legit cried! You guys are such a wonderful couple. I'm just a few years older than you but I had my 2 boys at 22 and 25. My older son and his wife just had their first child a few weeks before he turned 27. So, I have become a grandmother at 49 and it's the greatest thing ever! I babysit my granddaughter Myla two days a week. Her Mom is still working from home so she's in her home office. I play with her all day and I get to come home and relax afterwards. Best of both worlds!

Last week I was had just started dinner and my wife said how good it smelled. I was standing at the stove and smelled nothing. I made an off hand joke about her super sniffer was back and how she must be pregnant. After a long pause she pulled out her phone to check cycle dates. She then immediately ran to the store and bought a test. Looks like baby number four will be here early January. 😬😰😀

Im watching this 4 years after the fact lol but I loved how honest and real this was. We were in the exact same boat back in 09 except no vasectomy, just using birth control. We had an 8-year-old boy and a 6-year-old girl at the time. I stupidly took the test alone with complete confidence that it would be negative and it turned out positive LOL That was a fun phone call to the husband with me crying both happy and sad tears. That surprise baby is now a 10-year-old boy and I am so happy it turned out that way. I did, however, have horrible vomiting that lasted till 28 weeks and postpartum depression with all 3 and I clearly remember being in labor with my 3rd telling my husband that this is it, I will never go thru this again LOL So I understand completely

And #3 “I don’t have time for that”. Lol! What an endearing video to see. Even 3 years later. Kim is so gorgeous! Post Partum Depression is no joke. Very serious. I’m glad they’re happy with their family. They’re a wonderful one! So cute and real. Pen’s sadness and their sweet kisses and Kim tossing the stick. Great explanation! Seriously endearing family and video.

This was one of the most touching videos I have seen. It took me 7 years to work up the nerve to have a 2nd after my post partum depression. The struggle is real. Also you have a LOVELY family whether it be 2 kids or 3. Well Penn is like a kid..... LOL Do you think you can make a video (if you feel comfortable enough) about your PPD? I am sure it would help tons of women (and men) out there. Love ya guys!!

My husband had a vasectomy when our youngest was 6 months old. I too had a really hard time while pregnant with her. We have an 18 year old an8year old and a 7 year old. Low and behold I got pregnant last year. My husband was shocked and thrilled. I was so scared though. I was finally finished with college and my kids were all in school. Shoot my oldest just graduated high school for goodness sakes. We were just happy to go with the flow and he was happy and healthy until my 6 month check up, my water broke and his heart stopped beating. So now when I think back on it, I wonder if I could have handled having another baby and hitting the reset button. I'm glad your family is able to share your ups and downs with all of us. Your family makes me feel like my family is not so strange after all. Cheers

*hugs* I can’t imagine ❤️ my dad had two vasectomies that didn’t take...my mom got pregnant when I was 21...I was also pregnant...my baby brother went full term, but he had a major heart defect that took him about 15 hours after he was born 😥 he would have been 24 on the 10th of this month...You are an incredibly strong mom and I wish you and your family all the best! ❤️

We had this happen it our house and turns out I was pregnant. After my husband stopped me from panicking (our kids were 10 & 7 and I was done with babies!) we started thinking about the positives of having a 3rd kid. To make it even more crazy, that baby was stillborn at 25 weeks and we were shocked and devastated. Happy ending, though. After some soul searching we decided to try for baby number 3 on purpose. Now we have a rambunctious toddler to go with our teenage daughter and now 10 year old son. You just never know what life's going to throw at you and I so appreciate this video because I think it's very possible to be disappointed, relieved, happy, and sad all at the same time.

Thank you, Kim for sharing about having PPD. I wish we spoke more about the difficulties women endure with fertility, pregnancy, the post partum period....and beyond. My hubby has supported me every step of the way and he couldn’t have been easy for him to experience the challenges as a dad and see go through all of it. So not saying it’s not hard for our partners, but we need to normalize the challenges and difficulties otherwise it feels very isolating. Btw, I love Lola’s reaction!!

I love you guys! I'm almost 37 with 3 kids (ages 7,5,4) . . . I had more of Kim's experience and have said that we are DONE having any more babies. We had ours back to back to back and now they are all finally out of the diaper stage and the baby/toddler stage, so we are starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I don't think I could start all over (with a newborn), but if I thought I "might" be pregnant again there would be a part of me that would wish it would be so. So . . . I get the mixed emotions! Thanks for sharing. xxx

It's a bittersweet blessing. Been there, did that. 15 years between the first and last, 12 between the second and last. Think of it like this...when our second graduated high school...our last child went into kindergarten. Another example is...I started taking out kids to preschool in the fall of 1984, it all stopped when our last graduated in the spring of 2015. 31 years of taking a child or 2 to school, with no break except summer. There's a reason parents are supposed to be young, cause having kids is hard work, a humongous blessing and pure joy at times...many many times. Children are our most precious of all creations. I'm both happy and sad with you.

How cool you just told your daughter what was up!! So in 1959 my folks had me, in June. My next oldest sister was 10 years old and my one older than that was 16. Middle sister didn’t really like me very much when I was little I don’t think. But totally logical. I took her youngest kid 👧 position!! BUT, oldest sis LOVED ME IMMENSELY, And throughout my entire life I spent much time with her and her family just because I could and I really wanted to. Even going on vacation with them etc. I’m the only one left in my whole family of origin now. So very Thankful for my son and daughter, Nieces and nephews!!! 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💘 I just have to add, that it feels really strange and lonely to be the last one. I’ve never thought about it before. Both sisters died within three months of one another in 2016. It was just incredibly horrible. My older sister and I went and bought flowers for my middle sister’s funeral together!!! And then the next thing I know December comes and my older sister is dead, too!! We’ve had a lot of struggles with death in the world right now. I feel just heartbroken for everyone.

I had my last one at age 36, and hit the reset button and don't regret it. My kids were 5 and all older. I was very happy though and planned the pregnancy with my husband. I still want another one, but I am 41 so I feel I can't and my last baby is autistic. He's five now and it's not easy. He's lower on the spectrum, but still difficult. It's hard to say goodbye to that stage of life. Penn did look disappointed. Love you guys and thank you for this real and raw video.

You literally had me on the edge of my seat waiting for the results! I forced myself not to scroll down to read all of the comments and spoil it. You both looked like you were equally scared and excited at the possibility of a new baby, and you were both clearly disappointed that the test was negative. This is an insanely personal video, and I really liked seeing this side of you. But that's just because I have adopted you all as my cyber family! :) JK. Maybe.

I went through this two times with my husband. I had my tubes tied after our 5th child. Two different times my period was been super late along with a lot of symptoms that made me think pregnancy. Both times it was negative and we were just like them, relieved but disappointed. I think most of it is knowing how great your kids are and how much you love them, thinking of another is a very sweet and exciting thing. I think a lot of people regret their decisions but really, you do what you think is best for your family and then you make the best of your choices!

Wow Kim I have so many things I could say about this, but it would be way too long, I swear you and Penn are exactly like my husband and I and we are in the same age group as well! My husband had a vasectomy as well. Thanks for sharing something so personal, once in awhile I get freaked out about my husband's vasectomy might have regrown or come undone especially when I feel nauseous for no reason, I could go on and on..in my case though I am completely over having kids, only my opinion I don't want to be 50 and have a 10 yr old, now that being said if I was to get pregnant I would love and care for that baby no matter what.

I'm familiar with that happy/sad/scared because of horrible PPD in my past combo. I have had PPD with all my kids so far, but it was really really bad after my second child. I don't remember her infancy much because it's a swirl of black clouds and survival mode. We also had to take her to appointments at the children's hospital frequently due to a condition. Thankfully that went away with treatment and my depression eventually became fairly manageable. We just had our 4th baby 2 weeks ago now and my new doctor started me on meds and counselling a few weeks before delivery to be proactive. It's such a relief having a doctor who cares now. Hopefully this will be my best post partum experience yet since I didn't have any treatment with the others.

Both my 2 pregnancies were awful postpartum..... what I went through makes postpartum depression look like a cake walk. I developed a severe thyroid issue and it totally wrecked my heart. Permanently. So now I have a heart issue when beforehand I had none. Also, I developed all kinds of issues since pregnancy because of what happened at delivery as well....autoimmune related, digestive, immune, even a broken neck. On and on and on. I had an incredibly bad OB-Gyn who allowed me to labor for 90 plus hours and push for hours knowing I could not have a baby vaginally. This doctor eventually lost his license, but I am left broken, and destroyed with tons of issues because of what he did to me and the drugs he gave me. So hubby and I decided to add to our family through adoption. Hubby had a vasectomy too. Our goal was just to have ONE more....instead we ended up adding 4 more with 4 separate adoptions. 😲😲😲😲😲😲 With 6 kids, we still want to adopt again.....and our kids are 23, 21, 10,9,8,and 6 now. I would never have thought we would have SO many, as 3 kids total was a lot for me.....but..... if a family is forced to stop but would have had more kids if they could of.....you are not done. If a family thought, this is our last and all I want regardless, then they are done It's never a good thing imho to end expanding your family if it's not truly want you want. Obviously, every family has to decide for themselves what they want. In my case it took me 13 years to get my hubby to agree to adoption. I was never done, but felt like because of what was done to me, my once healthy body now would be broken further if I attempted another pregnancy. So finally, at 39 years old, hubby agreed to adopt and for my 40th birthday we brought home our 3rd child. The crazy thing is, I thought one and done....but unexpectedly my hubby fell hard for adoption and wanted more kids. I thought he was nuts but agreed to adopt again. By then, we both agreed...he regrets not adopting when our first 2 sons were young. Hubby is angry he wasted so much time. Hubby now would love to adopt 3 more kids or way more of possible , he even went as far to buy our family a 12 passenger mini bus, a Nissan Nv. ( though we wanted a 15 passenger, I said no.....for obvious reasons) ha ha 😁 But in all seriousness, biological, adopted, fostered then adopted, hosted....we also did foster care at one time....there are kids who need desperately a family. And if not us, who? Just my thoughts....

People told all kind of stories about getting pregnant at 40 and 50 and up! It was hilarious! People were going to overnight me a test because I didn't want to go to the store. I was a little disappointed with the negative but it was probably for the best. ❤

I'm kinda sad that Kim's not having a third baby. Well, it's 2020 already and they're still only have 2 childrens so, it's obvious that it's negative. But I kinda like to see them being a big big happy family, you know what I mean? Anywayssss, love from the Philippines! 🥰🇵🇭 God bless and stay safe everyone, stay home..

My husband and I each have kids from our first marriages...and we have two littles together (4 and 6 yrs)...and our older kids are adults (18-23) 😱😱 some days I think we are insane...some days I can believe how much easier this seemed 20 years ago 😱 I feel like being an older mom this time, makes me a better parent because I get to use all of the info I learned the first times around...but dang, I’m TIRED lol 😂😂

Oh yes, I can so relate to this one... my 'cap' broke (I'm not 'clipped') on our anniversary night away from the kids, and then Michelle didn't have her period... we were like, "uh, are we pregnant?" that went on for awhile before we took the test. It was negative too. Relieved and Disappoint (just a little) all at the same time. So we get it! Sounds like it was 'right' for your family too, based on your 3 reactions to it.

I am completely understand the happy sad feeling. I had such a terrible first pregnancy and when we had a chance I was relieved it was negative but I definitely cried for a few days about it too.

Watching this video for the first time 4.5 years after it was made so I know the results ahead of time. I totally understand how he feels. I go through the feeling all the time. It's a really weird and impossible feeling to explain. The only thing that I can think of is that men are programmed to have have more kids so subconsciously we feel the need to have more. But in modern society we do not need to have more. It creates an internal struggle that really makes no sense because I do not want more kids but I struggle with the realization that I will not have more. Does that make sense to any dad's out there?

My husband and I have 2 children, they are 14yr apart. We planned the first one, God planned the second one. So our son will be 35 and our daughter 21 this yr. This will be our 40th wedding anniversary too....

Been there, done that...age 44...positive. It was a strange mix of emotions. Just as I got excited and started figuring out how to move things around to accommodate a new family member I had a miscarriage. But man...do I remember how I felt while waiting to see if that pink line would show up. Life can be crazy...just gotta role with it. As a Mom of three I always tell younger people...the world is made for families of 4. But I love my third and would NEVER trade her back in LOL

I also went through postpartum depression (so thanks for making other PPD moms feel more normal by mentioning your experience) and swore I'd never consider having more kids. Thennnn basically what happened to you (except my hubby didn't have the snip) and kind of felt disappointed when the test was negative. Now I'm back to being ok with life as it is, and that zone of kids putting on their own pajamas as you mentioned. haha
