When I sublimated on tile I used the lamination sheets and the polycrylic paint on. I really like the way the laminate sheets worked, looked great on mine.

I sublimate on wood rounds. I always paint the area I plan to sub on white. Sometimes I use laminate on them other times I do not. I typically use pictures I have taken of the mountains and such. I also sublimated on ceramic by using laminate sheets. I heat them on first let cool and add print. If you want a picture of what I am talking about let me know. I am a hobbiest lol I don’t sell. If I did that it wouldn’t be fun for me anymore. So I try all kinds of things.

PS you can also try fusing thermo laminating sheets to the ceramic tiles prior to sublimation. Thermo laminating sheets are made from polyester. 😉

@andrea Brilliant!!! How would you fuse them? heat press? which side of the sheet do you apply to the ceramic?

@@aesquires Hi there...I don't believe either side makes a difference; though, after separating, I tend to fuse the inside of the sheet to the face of my substrate. Then I use my heat press. I'll double check my notes and reply tomorrow with the temperature and time to press😉😊. Hope this helps!

The tiles are so pretty, too bad they didn’t work out. But put laminate on them and they’ll be fine. But those tiles engrave beautifully with Glowforge!

I made the tiles but I had to put a coating on them first, and bake them for like 15 min. You can get the coating off Amazon Dry?. It works amazing. You can also laminate the tiles and then sublimate on them.

You can’t sublimate on regular ceramic just like you can’t sublimate on a regular old dollar store mug. If has to be sublimatable (coated with a poly coating). They do sell a coating for “hard surfaces” I don’t know if it works or not. Thanks for giving it a go ! I was surprised about the wood. I’m surprised the melamine didn’t melt totally!

Thesw Oh yes these coatings do work for signs ornaments etc. like in this video. I wouldn't try them on a mug though. Their hardness/longevity can't be compared to the industrial coating at all. They can be easily scratched.

Love it. What if u tried a heat conductive silicone mat on the ceramic ones. They are supposed to be used for slate to heat evenly and it would smush into the concaved parts. Maybe. Lol

I always clean my ceramic tile with rubbing alcohol the day before I plan to sub it to make sure it’s clean.

i came to ask the same thing. Since the Polycrylic spray worked on the wood can you just spray it on the tile or will it not adhere because it's not porous? Would really like to see.

Great way to start Friday. You two had me cracking up🤣🤣🤣 Garrett needs some oven mitts...Mommy must not have told you not to touch hot things with your bare hands !!!LOL😜😜😜 RIP ceramic tiles....I make magnets from the 2" square tiles and coasters from the 4" ones. Won't be doing any sublimation however, but it is fun to watch you two. The message board...hmmm.....KI.SS.....KI.CK......KI.LL...can't think of any others but I like KISS the best. Happy to hear you will be putting this design in the store....I have an idea 💡. We shall see how bright the bulb is and if it works😜🤣😜🤣😜

Nice video, however, you can't sublimate on ceramic tile unless it is pre-coated with a Polymer sublimation coating, you should have sprayed the tiles with the Polyacrylic or purchased ceramic tiles that are pre-coated for sublimation.

Hysterical 🤣...so you'll have the most success sublimating onto any polyester surface. Meaning: you'll need to coat your ceramic tiles with a coating containing the highest percentage of polyester possible. Sublimation inks bond to the polyester or polymer fibers resulting in the image transfer.
