These are show dogs, not pet dogs. They must look like this to show. Show dogs are breeding dogs, they go through a lot of genetic testing, vet visits, and training. The point of dog shows is to keep purebred bloodlines healthy. The continental clip (the usual show dog hairstyle, the one with the rosettes on the bum) is a historical haircut for poodles. Poodles are water dogs, they were originally used for retrieving ducks in water. The continental clip keeps their joints warm, while the rest of the hair is removed so they dry quicker and it doesn't weigh them down. The big jacket warms their sternum, ribs, lungs, heart, and other organs, the rosettes keep the hips and ilium warm, the bracelets on their legs protect multiple joints, the base of the tail is shaved so they don't get poo on it, the rest of the tail is kept unshaven and long to warm their tail as they are using it to swim. Also, the style in the video is a puppy cut. The puppy cut is how most show poodles start out. When they are about 8 months old they go through coat change, they grow thick hair instead of wispy thin cottony puppy fuzz. Puppy fuzz doesn't hold shape well so pups don't look great in a continental. When they are a year old they can easily turn the puppy cut into a continental, they just have to shave and shape.
