@@kimberlykinch you are so sweet to ask! Training is going great! We have a womens class twice a week at my gym with good numbers, and the other classes have good show as well. I just signed up for my first competition in two weeks just to get a feel for it. My gym has been great from a female coming into the sport perspective! If you are ever in Texas come check us out! Jiu jitsu WILL always be there. I've had the most difficult year of my life, and jiu jitsu has always been this really difficult thing to manage throughout all these life changes. I have found that it has helped me more than anything else when I can get to training, but between multiple house moves (all across the country as well as travelling), switching gyms, money troubles, injuries, insane work schedules, it's been really hard to get on the mats, and I've beat myself up a lot for not being able to train for periods. A good friend said that Jiu Jitsu will always be there, and she was right. I've completely let go of any expectation for 'linear' training as you said, and am just embracing the journey with gratitude for every session, every new training partner, and myself for continuing to just show up, whether I've had a break or not.

Sorry to hear you’ve had such a tough year 🥹 But it’s interesting how one of things that we know can help us the most is the toughest thing to commit to sometimes! But it’s really amazing that you continue to train when you can and just appreciating each session 🫶🏻

Glad you're back. FTI Rener Gracie had a back surgery that kept him off mats 10 months. He said he watched and studied others and particularly his older brother, Ryron and came back even stronger.
