Kimbra is so talented, pretty and knowledgeable! I am starting to think she could actually pass as Dua Lipa's older, wiser sister.

She sounds like she's been in the states a long time. Which begs the question, why some, but not others? Ever known a person who's been living in the states for over 40 years yet who talks like they just arrived? We all have. Yet with some, they lose their accent pretty quickly.

Gosh, what happened to Kimbra's voice from Vows to now?? She lost the softness of her timbre (it becomes bass, quite commom and opaque, lost the brightness vocal that differentiate her from the other pop singers). If you see the interview and pay attention to her voice and face changes (due to a lot of unecessary surgeries), you may think it is not the same singer from the beginning of 2010's. Another face, another voice, another accent, another songs (much more commercials and obvious). Pitty, he lost her way, temptated by mainstream. And the world lost a world-class singer.

I think, that when people become slimmer, their faces become slimmer too. Her new songs are different. Pretty a lot of them are kinda darker and I think, darkness isn't really a commertial thing, isn't it? I'd like to say, I'm a metalhead and I wasn't into pop music before I heard the Primal Heart album. I feel like I found a piece of myself in those songs. That difference in sound of her voice may be caused by a different microphone. Cheaper ones usually sound brighter in comparsion to more expensive and more natural sounding microphones. Furthermore, some artists may use more versitale stage microphones for something like home studio recordings at their beginng. Stage microphones usually are less sensitive than studio microphones, what makes, that they record less reverb of a room and they sound less detailed and softer becouse of that. Studio microphones tend to emphasize little details, but it's hard to find a perfect microphone for everyone voice. They may sound very clear and detailed with one voice, but with someone else's voice they may couse some smaller or bigger issues with s sounds or with hoarness of a throat. The difference may also be caused by different recording technique. It's usually like the closer distance to the mouth, the more bass, less reverb and more emphasized details, also angle of the microphone may cause a difference in bass and details. You can hear some differences like that here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fIuwkHt3Z7WGrrc But that isn't all. Even if a recording isn't perfect, some issues may be fixed in post production by audio enginer. Propably sound of every musical album must be edited after recording it, because of too big differences between recording techniques of different instruments. For example drums sound huge with room microphones in a room with a lot of reverb, but vocals may sound clearer with less reverb. Too big difference may sound unnatural, so somebody has to adjust the level of room microphones and/or a level of digital reverb to make it sounds not unnatural. There are many other problems to solve. I will not write about all of them, but I want to tell, it's possible to set up a maximum level of s like sounding frequencies in vocals to solve the problems with harsh sounds. You can hear it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gJDbhWyIjN-Sj5o Anyway I must say, I can hear that diference in sound in her vocals, but I haven't got a problem with it. It's simply not too much for me and you can believe me, I've got really neutral and clear sounding headphones, the Sennheiser ie 100 Pro. I was surprised, when I compared them to almost 10x more expesive proffesional studio audio monitors the EVE SC 207. It's seems to me, that when I compared them hearing some songs, I sometimes felt like there was no differences between them. Other times I heard one very small diffference. My headphones sound a little tiny bit quieter around 4khz, but that was almost unnoticible. When I was listening to one unfinished audio project, I could hear some details even more clearly on my headphones. I know, it may sounds weird, what I say about almost 10x cheaper headphones, but I really must say that and I'm a young person, so I can hear wider than 50 - 12000hz range, so I wonder, is it because of your sensetivity, or because of your headphones/speakers.
