Jacksons art supplies store has a freebie section. I got lots of gorgeous sample sized goodies, many are from quite high end brands. If not free they are only £1 or £2. Bet they would send you extra goodies if you write a note similar to your message above.

I use acrylic ink with a dipping pen or with a fine paintbrush. My top tip is always to decant the ink into 15ml/half-ounce bottles then i can dip away without the droppers getting in the way. I use black acrylic ink a lot, it's like indian ink except it flows better and will not smudge if you brush colours over the top.

I absolutely love your encouraging give it a go attitude. A lot of people are all for the rules of their products which can be intimidating. You are so open and creative. One technique I was itching for you to try is to manipulate drops and splashes by blowing with a drinking straw like we did when we were in school. It's really fun and gives lovely effects.

I am using fountain pen ink and metallic acrylic ink. With brushes, sponge pads, cutout pieces of leather pressed against the paper. Dip pens. Once I mixed it with washing up liquid on one occasion and a long straw and blowing bubbles onto paper. My grandaughter loved that before the social isolation sadly but I have it planned for when things return to normal. Its all good fun!

I have a few different kinds of acrylic inks (lots of colors), and had put them away after my first few experiments with them, but earlier this past week I pulled out my container of them and just played and played for over 2 hours making background pages. I had so much fun. I got some great ideas from you. I do not think that inks are my favorite medium, but they are definitely fun to just let loose.

a bit late but im using dr phil martin india ink, bombay. my favorite technique is to spray a piece of stone paper ( terraskin) or water color paper until it has an even sheen of water across, with the terraskin paper the ink just spreads out so fast, not so fast on watercolor paper, but the effect when a line of ink makes an awesome feather looking effect, i love watching this

Oh yes I love string loving that last one where you've gone round in a circle..... also you can pull the string out from between 2 pieces of paper... make a loop first load the string with paint then pull...

I use the metallics and titanium white from liquitex with a dip pen and/or paint brush myself. I live in a very humid climate which makes using regular pens like Sakura gelly roll pens a pain as they tend to clog, making them unusable/waste of money. So I gotta go 'old school' haha.

So helpful for a new as me... question : Aqrylic / oil / ink which will be the first on a Canvas on a bottom Which can i use for a mix- art i am using acrylic combined with sakura pigma micron ink pen to doodle on my canvas..love the combined mix art. Can you make all the kinds here which combination i can use with one another and which will be the first on the canvas ?

That is a big question! As it really depends on what acrylic, oils and inks you are talking about and how you use them. Without knowing how you use them, and the art that you do, I would just really say get a cheap canvas and play to find your own way. If you are using oil paints, I can't advice as I have yet to use them in a big way. If you are using oil pastels or crayons it really depends on how you are using them, but things are less likely to sit on top of them easily unless they are other oils.

Love that big fat wash brush! What should I look for when shopping for one?

Oh it is lovely isn't it? What might be a factor is if you like your brushes to be very soft or a little stiffer. So this particular one is a relatively stiff brush for a mop brush. I also use the Raven ones from Jackson's Art (I've put a link to the Raven in the description) and they are a lot softer but also give fantastic coverage.

I’m doing alcohol ink now, but I am going to get some acrylic ink as well! Do you think smooth watercolor paper would be better to use if you are using more water with the inks? I don’t want my paper buckling when it gets wet! Thanks I just subbed to your channel!

Hi, thanks for becoming a subbie! Mixed media paper and watercolour paper take wet materials well, so heavyweight papers of 290gsm or more. You may also need to tape them down to a board whilst you work and let them dry on the board. Some times pre-treating them with water (search 'stretch paper' on KZbin) is good for stopping warping. But really it depends on your paper and how much warping you can put up with.

Mmm I don't actually know! I haven't tried it. I have only used watercolors or dyes in my brush pens so far. I suppose as long as the ink didn't dry out in any of the brush parts it would be ok? But I don't think I would trust it not to dry out and clog up the brush!
