Yeah, some are a little cartoonish, but that's because they're living in a parody of a Marvel/DC universe. In the comic they seem more fleshed out and in a lot of cases, more extreme. Everything is oversexualized and very decadent. That's cartoonish too, but as source material it's pretty rich. I just wish they had sticked closer to the comic, but I also understand they had to innovate to entertain people who read the comic as well. I would've liked the heroes to be bigger and beefier, even if they had to use muscle suits(which they do). I also liked terror, but being honest I can't see it working in a TV show.

Garth ennis really struggles with nuance. He makes a great universe but that's pretty much the end of his storytelling abilities. His one dimensional characters are one such aspect of that. Ennis is much more popular amongst angsty teenagers rather than adults or mature, older kids.

The Name "Uderzo" of the doctor at 1:34 is a reference to the famous french comic artist Albert Uderzo, who created the "Asterix" comic series. In these comics the gauls drink a magic potion, that gives them super strenght before fighting against the romans. There's only one person called "Obelix", who is not allowed to drink the potion, because he fell in the pot as a child, drinking it all, which results in him having this strength all the time, whereas every other tribe member has to use the potion each time before going into battle.

I've read the comics and liked them but I'm glad they're changing certain things like with The Female, giving her a name and an altered backstory. It also seems like they nerfed her powers a bit in the show which I think is smart, you don't want the protagonists to seem too powerful.

Remember that her origin story is told by an unreliable narrator, Frenchie. It has some subtle nods towards the french Asterix comic (Uderzo, the similar way Obelix gained his powers) and is most likely just Frenchie spinning a tale for Hughie.

There are going to be 6 of them and they've released 3 of them with the 4th one being released next month. If you think the tv show is great read the comics. They do not disappoint

My favorite member is Billy. The reason being is not because he is a British guy holding a crowbar and bashing skulls in. But the fact that he knows how to make weapons and is a damn genius. Like he made explosives that can kill Translucent which was a 10/10 master smart plan using electric to zap him if he tried to get out and even making a bullet that can blow him up
