Күн бұрын

Family time in Alaska continues with Kimi Werner and friends! Normally staying in the protected waters close to the cabins, Kimi tries something new and leaves Buddy and Justin for the day to join her friends out in the open ocean. Halibut fishing is the goal and she’s been told that there is a spot far away with true sea monsters! Catching a big fish in a little boat is challenging enough but the real work always comes down to taking care of your catch and preparing it with love. Halibut coconut curry is on the menu today! See the ingredients we used below!
Halibut or fish of choice
Coconut oil
Onions
Carrots
Celery
Broccoli
Zucchini
Bell Pepper
Baby corn
(Or green beans, eggplant, bamboo shoots, anything!)
Salt
Turmeric
Garlic
Cilantro
Mint
Red curry paste
Fish sauce
Coconut milk
If you have fresh lemon grass, ginger, kaffir lime leaves, turmeric, Thai basil....do add!!!
THANK YOU:
Mika and Rufus Kimura for an epic day of fishing!

I am so happy you started a KZbin channel! I remember searching the internet years ago trying to find anything you were in, because you are such a good story teller. I’d literally watch you make coffee and scramble eggs, or work in your garden, just because of how you would explain it.

"And that is enough fish to say our thanks..." Always appreciate that you add this sentiment of gratitude to the fish, to the ocean, and to the wonder of Earth. And, to top it all off, your t-shirt reads "Soil Power - Regenerative Agriculture, Patagonia" Yay! Peace and health to all.

Way to go girl. You should of brought your dive gear and a 10mil suite and shot one. I have a sister on kodiak and a mother in law in Homer so I go to Alaska about every other yr and I load up on halibut and salmon to bring back to Texas. I also have a good friend in Makaha Hawaii. Hopefully if covid doesn't explode again I will be headed your way to do some diving. Thanks for taking us along on your trip and keep up with the good content.

Kimi, next time you are at the lodge, every appliance has adjustable feet to compensate for floors that are not level. On every corner of every appliance are round pads that will unscrew or screw in to raise or lower that corner. You can get you’re stove, fridge, chest freezer perfectly level this way. Thanks for the all the wonderful videos!

100% B side. Hear me out. Not just because it’s nice and pretty on top but mostly the flavor on the bottom from that sautéed garlic and everything soaking into the curry. Adding SO much flavor. Add all of the rest of the “yum yums” into that curry! 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽 either way I know it was so delicious

I live in New York City. At a quality fish monger here, fresh halibut costs as much or more than quality blue fin tuna. But fresh halibut is great. Once in a while, they will have halibut cheeks. Great deal, great for deep frying.

I just love this video. Been fun looking back on your Alaska trip. I fish for halibut down here in the San Francisco Bay Area, and our little California halibut do NOT get that big lol. Last year someone caught a 42lb one and everyone, commercial and recreational fishers, talked about it for a week lol. That’d be nothing in Alaska! The dish looks amazing, I’ll have to give it a try. Thanks for another great video!!
