I feel like AC: Mirage focuses on the parts of the last 3 games I absolutely adored - which is going into these locations, fortresses, enemy camps etc. and completing the objectives as stealthily as possible. I've been an AC fan since Day 1 and while I did love the RPG in it's own way - I got into the series for it's stealth gameplay. Really happy to see Mirage go back to that focus and can't wait to get my hands on this tomorrow.

I'm loving it. I'm so happy they went away from the overly massive RPG experiences. I've got two kids, I don't have time to play for over 100 hours but I'm also a massive assassin's creed fan. Revelations and brotherhood are in my top 5 favorite games ever. Almost have a feeling that it was made for me

same. i love to switch off as much of the HUD as i can, select the locations local language if i can, and explore every corner of an AC game world this way, and i was already over 100 hours of slogging through Valhalla to wind up at the opening title screen. by then, i'd already played enough and never went back. Mirage was a breath of fresh air in comparison, about 90 hours to explore & complete everything, without it ever feeling like i was getting bored and wanting to move on. for me, this one was just right.

16:30 is a surprising. If valhalla’s ending doesn’t do it for you then, you’re obv not going to enjoy mirage. I thought valhalla’s ending was the best part of that whole slogfest. I think it is going to be interesting to have the modern day character with a jaded personality.

finished Mirage tonight. as someone who's loved most of the AC history from the beginning, this was a wonderful return to the original ideas and gameplay, with updated visuals, sound & gameplay mechanics. i would have liked more story, especially the Precursor stuff, and more Animus lore, but overall a beautiful game & far less bugs/crashes than every other AC game i've played. i was surprised to find i comfortably spent around 90 hours happily exploring all of the map for its stories & secrets, much like i did with AC Unity. if you loved AC, Ezio trilogy, Rogue or Unity, give it a try. 5/5

I agree with everyone here except in general i think reviewers and gamers alike put too much emphasis on story and character development. To have it is great but when it isnt the best i dont think its detrimental because the main character is supposed to he an extension of yourself. Ppl love Zelda and Link doesnt speak neither does Mario and they get rated extremely high. We all play different and have different lives going into these games so for developers to come up with stories that touch all of us is asking a lot. I can think of a handful of games that do it well

While I am enjoying the game, I have to say that Jarrett's recommendation of AC Mirage as an intro to the series is sort of a cut and dry example of recency bias if there ever was one. Performances in mirage are absolutely mid, the movement is nice but hardly fluid, and the combat, kind of goofy? It's a fine game, but not the picturesque example of AC. Start with AC 1 people! Yeah, its clunky and older, the pacing isnt quite the ADHD high octane that we are so in love with now, but the story is infinitely more compelling, the combat is grounded, and man... vibes. Just had to voice that, hard disagree there. I'm even at that point where my second rec is going to be Unity. Sorry, I like complex parkour and real, massive scale. Such an ambitious title. Would love to see them try it again. For now, this will do. But i'm excited for another ambitious move from ubi with cinematic edge, NOT an RPG with hack and slashy combat

The game is 69.99$ as opposed to the usual 79.99$ or 89.99$ here in canada for me. Im fine with the reduced 10$ price being 69.99$ for Mirage. I actually expected them to try and charge full 79 or 89.99$ here but they didnt. Im having fun with the game and enjoying it. The story isnt grabbing me much the way i wanted it to. But evreything else feels great. Only negative for gameplay id say for me is the combat. Mostly cause its taking me more time to get used to. But will be better with time and practice. Plus the fact you can re map the controls is a huge bonus. One thing though.. when i saw the overpiced DLC shop it mades me cringe. Yeah its a smaller game like immortals fenyx rising was, so there wont be as much cosmetic stuff. But what little there actually is, is way to overpriced. But ovcourse they are doing it this way cause they know this game wont get much post launch support. So they are raising the dlc prices to make up for that. When i saw it i just groaned and rolled my eyes..🙄😒 What i also cant stand is people overly hating this game for the sake of it. Or a trend. Now ubisoft are gonna see poor sales and reception and claim classic Assassin's creed formula doesn't sell enough so it makes them not wanna do more classic style games. Far too many people jump on the hate wagon and it p*sses me off. The game isnt what we all wanted but its a step forward to a great direction for the series. But haters will unfortunately be the loudest and ubisoft will bend the knee to them instead. I cant stand that sh*t!😒😡

i think with the combat, it's kinda bad because you start as a scrub and across the game work your way up to being a full-fledged assassin, and along the way unlock new skills and items that help you find more creative ways to engage the enemies in conjunction with the blade & sword, as a kind of last resort, or when the game puts you in combat encounters. i feel it's designed to be engaged in this way, as opposed to just hacking and slashing, or dodge-rolling like a Souls-like. in the beginning one or two regular soldiers killed me almost instantly, but by the end of the game i was taking on groups of five or more in actual combat utilising all the tools i'd unlocked and only getting killed occasionally. while Basim is still more suited to stealth, he became quite competent enough at combat to handle a group or three by the end as well.

Before deciding to buy this game people need to watch multiple reviews and above all watch people actually playing this game. There is such a huge disconnect between those things and what is being said here that it seems like they are talking about an entirely different game. Which is why you should never pre-pay for any game and do as much varied research as you can before giving your money to any studio. If you act on just one source of information such as this "review" you may be very disappointed.

@joceja23 oh man, where should I start? You have the big graphical upgrades for weather, Landscapes, item meshes, npc's, weapons and armor. Gameplay wise immersive citizens, realistic conversations, relationship dialogue. Dynamic followers like serana dialogue add on and Inigo, they both have 7000 added dialogue and fully voiced. I love the Serana one, she can be your best friend or a very extensive relationship. Complete combat overhauls. Mods that change your characters movements and plenty of horse overhauls. Check out Nolvus and that's the full potential from a PC. Of course you can change it to fit how ever you want. It's a complete role-playing experience

Syndicate being ranked first is mind boggling to me, especially since it's the consensus amongst AC fans to have the weakest story of all the AC games and feels the least AC of the original games due to its more modern setting. Also Revelations has gained a new prominence in the AC community in the past few years as being the best of the Ezio trilogy, being placed above Brotherhood and AC2, mostly for its story/conclusion. Unity has also gained newer appreciation and usually ranks higher than Syndicate on many more recent top AC games lists, after the buggy mess of it all was fixed ofc. Interesting list though.

No, the weakest story is Unity and that’s consensus, specially it going so far as making the point it didn’t matter in the end. Where Unity has grown in appreciation has been the parkour and the blackbox assassinations that are more appreciated now that the tech issues were sorted (and on Xbox Series X/S the FPS boost adds a lot). Syndicate is one you usually see fairly high in rankings its more common than you actually think.

​@@alexandersouto7024 I just think it made for a low energy start to things. I felt like Tim had already covered the context and then we went and did it again. By the time we reach the end of the video and we get into the 'assassin's creed in review' section i think things were well back on track, but clicking on the video this morning something just felt off with the start.
