The problem is, both years there weren’t/aren’t enough showcases of 1st party games to really secure a solidified reason as to why Xbox is the best place to play over PlayStation, PC, and Nintendo. The displays of games have always been great though. Anthem, Cyberpunk 2077, Metro Exodus, Dragon Ball FighterZ, Jump Force etc. but you can play those games anywhere else outside of Xbox.

Totally agree. If you watched the KF analysis of the EA conference, Microsoft did the total opposite of everything they criticized EA for. EA blathered on endlessly, Microsoft shut up and SHOWED the games. They killed it.

You should pay attention to Dying Light 2, cause of one reason. Chris Avellone (the guy on stage). That guys is a legend - worked on the BEST RPG's EVER MADE: -Baldur's Gate -Neverwinter Nights2/Mask of the Betrayer -Icewind Dale -Fallout 2 -Fallout New Vegas -Wasteland 2 -Divinity Original Sin 2 -Knights of the Old republic -Planescape Tourment -Tyrrany -Pillars of Eternity All of those games have AMAZING narratives and story. Just because of him, Dying Light 2 became a must have for me.

Emptilion well I love Sony first party content. Uncharted, MGS, Last of Us and Gow are the reason why I stick with Sony. We are going to see tlou2, death stranding and Spider-Man. So I know it’s going to be epic. I was just giving props to Microsoft but most of the games they showed that I want to play are multiplatforms. I am not a fan of halo or gears but I’m glad the Xbox community is getting two new games in those franchises

So hyped for Halo! That was a perfect teaser. The great people of the internet have already been picking out the Easter eggs. The radio doing The Morse code in the tent has been translated to be saying “SOS ZETA HALO GRD”. Zeta halo is installation 07. Which is know to be very earth like and to house prehistoric animals from earth and also ancient humans at one point. It’s also known to have dormant flood forms. So the flood is back! So excited.

Next gen consoles are on the way; MS isnt in a place where they need to sell people on their current hardware - they need to satisfy current owners and demonstrate that they're ready to bring more first party stuff in the future for people deciding between an xbox two and ps5.

For Recreational Use Only Xbox One X just came out in the past year, if Microsoft had any decency they would wait at the very least 2 and a half years till the release of a new console. I personally believe that 2021 would be the best time for new consoles but 2020 seems more likely.

You’ve also clearly never played a Horizon game. I love them and know a ton of people that play it basically year round. It’s funny because I feel the same way about Sony and I have a ps4, I’m tired of linear movie games that you only play once. Overall a great conference. It flowed very well from start to finish and featured a lot of things gamers would care about. But.... It honestly was exactly what people have been expecting for months. A ton of multiplat games featured to detract from the lack of quality exclusives outside of their big 3. Gears, Forza and Halo heading out their triple A exclusives as usual, only adding to the already tired (but true) joke. If you were on the fence about getting an X1 currently, this conference likely wouldn't have changed anyone's mind. The acquisition of Ninja Theory & the creation of The Initiative were the highlights of their acquisitions being as Playground already operated as a exclusive studio and Undead Labs just released the not well received State of Decay 2. Compulsion Games is a wild card however. I wonder how the Xbox diehards feel.

Acquiring Ninja Theory is a bold move, but historically, Ninja Theory have come close to bankruptcy twice and have made a number of loss-making games, which is why Sony didn't acquire them. But Hellblade is perhaps the corner they needed to turn, which is what gave MS the confidence to buy them. Sadly, MS have a history of acquiring studios only to let them wither and die.

I'd say that risk-taking nature is what makes Ninja Theory attractive to Microsoft. Technically, they have the money to cover their deficiencies. They already have quite a few studios that are proficient at actually making games. What they need are studios that are creative and are capable of making an impact with their games. Studios that aren't going to merely turn out good versions of other people's games, but are gonna actually do things that are different and risky. Playground has accomplished that for open world driving games with Horizon. They're fun to play and they have changed what people even want out of their realistic car games. Compulsion still needs to prove itself, but their world definitely leaves an impression and that counts for a lot. Even State of Decay at Undead Labs is a unique (whether you like it or not) gameplay take on a zombie game. Ninja Theory perfectly embodies a studio that has taken business, creative, and technical risks to deliver on an ambitious vision - and that's been true for many many games. MS needed a Ninja Theory, and Ninja Theory needed a backer to stay alive. I'm optimistic

I like to look at E3 conferences individually, EA sucked donkey balls except for a few things imo, MS did a good job honestly, it felt like a good balance of big, small games and other announcements no super long talks or cringy moments all rounder great conference, Bethesda did well too for a smaller conference it did really well and has some epic games honestly, Sony I haven't watched yet so can't say anything but so far only EA fucked up this year for me.

Sony and Xbox fanboys are both overreacting. I thought the conference was good without being amazing or awful.... As a gamer it was great to see all those multiplat-games. If i was considering buying a ps4 or Xbox this gen, after watching this conference I would definitely not have a reason to buy a Xbox. Crackdown 3 looks really meh, halo looks interesting but far away, gow looks meh, I thought the last how was really disappointing and idc about racing so no forza for me. The rest of the show was for all platforms (metro,dyinglight2 and cyberpunk looking really interesting to me ). They bought 4 studios + creating 1 own, which is great and looks promising in the future, but why should I care for it now ? Those studios won't be able to deliver until the next gen is out, so no reason to buy a Xbox soon. I would definitely go to PlayStation or Nintendo for this gen. Maybe Microsoft will turn the tide next gen

ctl6985 as I said as a gamer, this conference was good but for people hoping for some new exclusive IP's and not the 100th halo, gow or forza,it was kind of disappointed. I actually played the last halo and gearsofwar with my brothers Xbox and thought the games were okay, but needed a reboot or longer break. Just saying that Microsoft won't win over new customers for Xbox with that strategy this gen. For me the conference was a 7/10. But the future looks a lot more promising for sure. Just kind of worried about ninja theories being bought by Microsoft. Love that studio and just hope that it won't end up like blur studios

no i did not. my main point is : This conference will not attract anyone new to Microsoft. Xbox fan love Halo and GoW -franchises and thats a given because most games were pretty good (Halo1-3 & GoW 1-3 were great imo), but lets be real aswell. Forza(2005), Halo(2001) and GoW(2007) are old franchises. Where are the newer big exclusive IP's like Alan Wake 2 or Sunset Overdrive 2. I just feel like Microsoft gave up on this console gen. Buying Studios and telling the world about it, is a promise for the future, not the now. Thats all.

At this point, Xbox is here to show up for Xbox gamers and show them that the company is still making moves, still developing games they want, and (now) getting great responses from 3rd parties - from indies to AAA to Japan. For an Xbox gamer, this conference was so exciting for the next year, for the rest of this generation, and for whatever is coming next. Mission accomplished.

Sagacious Assessor but it's no joke, all the 3rd party's were here and Sony already spoiled there e3. They lost nier as an exclusive m$ is building 5 new studios they killed it, this is coming from a Sony/pc m$ hasn't won me over yet but there dann close. In the end if this all pans out next gen will be a he'll of a lot better for us all.

Hiroko Takashiro I'm curious, why do people like you always state what platform you play on before making a statement as if it's going to lend you more credit? Seems insecure to me. Here's the problem with your assessment of Xboxs e3. If it weren't Microsofts conference, and it was only showing games being announced for the future, how much shorter would the conference have been? And how much shorter would this conference have been if it were ONLY showing Microsoft content? Microsoft is relying too much on other companies efforts for their own conference to be anything better than mediocre. All sony has to do is show is show the last of us 2 gameplay and that alone is something more tangible than anything from the Microsoft show. Same goes for Nintendo

Sagacious Assessor He just saying he's not expecting any surprises from Sony and because there were at Microsoft's conference (most 3rd party except Battletoads). I disagree, Sony still can have one or two bigger original games with Maybe Rocksteady's Superman, Red Dead 2 gameplay, other third parties, and Blupoints new remake.

Sagacious Assessor It may be true a lot of what was shown was third party, but it is still a big deal as the average gamer will assosaite these games with xbox. Overall with all the announcements they had there show will just look more impressive than Sony, who has 4 games and what looks like very little 3rd party aside from cod and maybe rockstar. Also I only stated my preference since people often get the wrong idea otherwise.
