Alone Together is an interesting episode, dealing with the growing realisation that while you're still a child in your mind, other people are seeing your body differently. Like when 14 year old girls start getting cat-called. Also deals with a lot of Connie's social anxiety.

The kindergarten episode is one of my favourites bcz not only it adds more to the plot but gives flavour to Amethyst's character instead of always being the funny character. Plus I love the Pearl and Amethyst's interactions and the hug in the end, it was very emotional🌟

I have to say, with the "what did he expect" I think he expected them to treat him like an equal. If it were for any of the other gems, they wouldn't have made it actually harmless. Obviously it was very smart for them to make it actually harmless, but he still feels like making it harmless makes his goal pointless. I feel I can probably relate this to Harry Potter order of the Phoenix. Umbridge: you'll be learning about spells in a risk free environment. Harry: what good will that do? If we going to be attacked, it won't be risk free

Depends, if you meant her past to present she has development but her present self didn't really develop that much. I say Amethyst matures as a character and Pearl's development is the most interesting as it takes the opportunity to actually delve hard into unstable relationships and damaged individuals.

Outside the show, a short they did for a Dove self-esteem ad campaign has Stevonnie’s instagram bio shown on-screen, which explicitly states that they’re nonbinary and intersex, and lists their pronouns as they/them. Those shorts were written by the show creator and she confirmed that info is canon.

These are some of my favorite episodes from season 1, and maybe the entire series. I love your reactions/commentary! Makes me relive my emotions the first time I saw them. I know a lot of people think of season 1 not being as good as later seasons, but I think it’s my favorite. The slice-of-life (mixed with sci fi and action elements) nature of the first half really did a good job of creating an atmosphere and making us care about the characters, while the second half was really good at planting the seeds of heavy lore that led to so many fan theories and it was SUCH a great feeling when we got answers to them eventually!

I think the smart idea behind Stevonnie is that they go by they/them because they're referred as "Steven and Connie". Notice how they use "us" instead of "me". This allowed the representation to avoid the censorship radar. It's also interesting how Kevin misgenders Stevonnie by saying "girl", although it can be confusing to an audience who has no idea that they're non-binary.
