Hi Len. I had tried to use a ReMarkable, then the ReMarkable 2, but realized I needed back-lighting. I purchased the Scribe when it was first released and have enjoyed using it. Its uncanny that this morning I was thinking about letting go of two daily habits of weighing myself and checking my sleep on my galaxy watch. I have sleep apnea and other issues which point to my losing weight. I smiled as I viewed your example, how spot on! I teach Bible Study Virtually, sending out PDFs to my students. I wanted to be able to annotate one of the books that I purchased from Amazon on the Scribe. I knew the RM 2 was now allowing insertion of blank pages and thought it was so with the Scribe, but I couldn't figure it out. It was comforting to see your name in the search results, as you guided me through the use of the very first Kindle Fire way back when and it was good to hear your voice again. Thanks for the guidance with the Scribe!

I love this. I’m glad you are finding the Scribe as much fun as I am. Every time I use it to write in my journal I have the intention to create a KZbin video showing the process that I’ve been using for the past six months or so. I print out the pages and they now take up a very thick three ring notebook of printed pages. I can’t wait to see what Amazon will be revealing September 20 at the new products event in Arlington that I will attend. I will have a special episode of The Kindle Chronicles the day after, thanks for your time and for this message. Much appreciated!

Hey, I'm also really keen to write sermon notes, bible study, and SOAP etc on a ereader device. 11:21 this seems really good for notes on any kind of Christian living books as well. Could you perhaps share how you do virtual bible study with me in a private message? God Bless

Good approach to creating book notes. However, Amazon has got to get moving with upgrading their software. They are well behind the competition.

Len, thanks for the video on sticky notes. Have just purchased one and the goal was very much to be able to take notes. One future nirvana for me would be a tight integration with Audible. I tend to consume my books using Audible. And I often pause and take notes in the Audible stream. I would very much love a tight integration between audible and kindle and notes. This seems a long way away, I suspect because of the synchronisation between a properly narrated audio book and the printed text. The AI narrated books really are not good to listen to and I don't think there is a way to get this to work well. BUT IF YOU KNEW OF ONE !! I would love to hear about it. Thank you - Andrew

Why did you opt for the Kindle Scribe instead of the Remarkable or an Onyx Boox device like the Note Air 2? Thank you for your video; Liked and subscribed.

Handwriting sticky notes it's possible on pdf?

Seems like at the moment notes are limited by the length of the pop-up window without the ability to scroll further down, allowing users to create long and elaborate annotation.
@LenEdgerly

That’s right. There’s quite a lot of space so it’s usually enough for me to jot down what I’d like to. But I like the idea of a scrollable window for much longer handwritten notes. Good idea!

I like the idea that it’s not just words but diagram/drawing to make it more memorable, especially if there’s something you can take action on. One of my disappointments with the Scribe was that notes couldn’t be searched like they are on the Kindle app on my iPad. However, I think the best way to use this idea of drawing & diagramming and “search-ability” is to add an old-school typed note that only consists of tags you can use to search later. That way you can do more than write and still find it later (since the typed note would be associated with the same passage). (BTW, why I have both iPad and Scribe - I love e-ink for reading!)

Good point, Joe. I still love my iPad for certain work, like sketching out notes for my Morning Journal Alexa flash briefing. My creative process for that is somehow enhanced by the colors available with the Apple Pencil.

Hi Len: terrific video. I got your email this morning, and then tonight saw the new video. I have now had my Kindle Scribe about 10:days, and the process of sticky notes is slowly growing on me. And the big screen is a treat compared to my Paperwriite. Of course I am hopeful that the software will be improved over the next year to allow clip and paste, along with other things. Thanks for putting this informative video together. I hope there will be more as you experiment with this new Kindle.

In my case, when I highlight any part of the text and I choose the note, I only get an option to write with "keyboard", no handwritten notes. I'm at the moment fully updated and I have no idea how to utilize that function :( That would be awesome because sometimes I would love to add my personal "feel" to the particular sentence or any part of the book...

Thank you for making the video! Is the "sticky note" feature available for reading PDF on Scribe? I can't seem to figure it out.

Hi Len. I have had the kindle scribe for a while now, but never saw the value in the sticky notes. You've changed my whole concept. Adding the date, never thought of that. Doodling with arrows, never thought of that! When I read I forget that I have a book which I can absolutely destroy with sticky notes. Would never do that with a real book!

Thank you for the video! I was debating between this and Kobo Elipsa. But I think I’m leaning more towards the scribe now. 😀

Thanks for the video! Have been considering buying a kindle scribe. One question: is it possible to type the typed notes with your finger or just with the scribe pen? Considering this in case I feel like typing a note instead of writing it, although writing physically is better for memorization.
@LenEdgerly
@LenEdgerly 10 ай бұрын
Yes, you can tap on the keyboard that pops up on the screen. When you create a note, using your finger or the stylist that comes with the scribe I prefer the stylus just because it’s more precise, and I am more likely to hit the key on the keyboard that I’m looking for compared with using my finger but they both work.

Good eye! I have a habit of using this up, right to the limit, before replacing them with something new. I get good clear lines when writing with the tip even after it's near the end. But your question may lead me to make a change of tip tomorrow!

Thanks, this was very helpful. My Scribe will arrive later this week, and I'll use your idea of leaving comments in a book when I'm done it. It will help me remember what the book was about so I don't end up re-reading it later trying to remember what it was about lol
