An open container, exposed to the atmosphere, contains water of density ρw. A “L-shaped” tube is inserted into it as shown in the figure below. The diameter of the vertical part of the tube is negligible while the horizontal part of the tube has a uniform cross-sectional area and length l. Initially, the tube is motionless such that the water level is completely flat at equilibrium. Subsequently, the tube is rotated at a constant angular velocity ω about the vertical column such that the water level in the tube is a height Δh above the water level in the container at equilibrium. If the atmospheric pressure and temperature are pa and T and if the molar mass of the gas inside the tube is μ, determine Δh. Assume that the gas in the tube undergoes an isothermal process

PV=nRT. So adding PV is like conserving moles

Sir won't the change in pressure of gas be very small because as we have assumed that vertical diameter is negligible , thus change in volume is negligible and hence change in pressure will be negligible too as process is isothermal?
@PhysicswithAkashGoyal
@PhysicswithAkashGoyal 2 жыл бұрын
Vertical tube is narrow so that we can assume negligible amout of gas in it. In vertical part pressure of gas is same throughout. Due to rotation gas molecules/moles are shifted towards right and gas is least compressed near the axis . Some amount of the gas which was earlier present in the lower section of vertical tube will have to move up due to low density created because of rotation. So in final steady state pressure is same everywhere in vertical part.

Dear sir , I have a small request please consider it , Kindly update your playlist for chapterwise advance problems , just add problems from one chapter to one playlist if you can please , it will save a lot of time and trouble for us , as jee advanced is less than 2 months away. Hope you'll reply ;)

@@PhysicswithAkashGoyal i know there is topic wise playlist but i am saying to update it , because I saw many questions relevant to advanced on your channel but not included in those playlists , or they might be in some other playlist, I'm saying to club all those illustrations.
