I wonder if Guido has ever made a bad landing? I've never seen one, excellent pilot with great skills on many types of planes.
@GuidoWarnecke8 ай бұрын
Of course I have! However, one should never mix "firm" or "hard" landings with :good" landings. "Good" means first and foremost "safe". A safe landing is: > always under control > at the correct speed > followed by a stable approach > touch down in the TDZ touch down zone > touch down on the main wheels > without excessive use of braking after touch down Typically a stable approach leads to a good landing and if you are lucky it leads also to a "smooth" landing. Passengers see only the "smooth" part of a landing - as a pilot you should consider all points I mentioned above. One has to say that also the design of the airplane has an impact on how smooth the landings are. The C560 Citation Jet with I have flown a lot was notorious for "harder" ;landings. Just the design of the landing gear geometry. Funny enough the harder you try to do a "smooth" landing. the more often you plonk it on the runway... The newer CJ jets with trailing link gear land always like on butter, whatever you do. Same with the Pilatus PC12. Cessna Caravan also easy to land. C210 not so easy. Happy Landings, Capt. Love hearing the "Beer Horn" when you come back on the power levers. I learned the muscle memory for when the gear horn would activate and just had it pressed prior to it going off! Also unfortunate rigging on the propellor levers. What influences the decision to land with the props out of the full fine position? Not being picky just genuinely curious. Our company SOP is to select them full fine to ensure the "Reverse Not Ready" caution doesn't illuminate and to obviously ensure the props are set for reverse or a go around.

Guido thank you again. I’m curious as to when the red light comes on in the landing gear handle when up? I see it’s off in cruise and on during approach.
@GuidoWarnecke8 ай бұрын
Hi Vincent, in normal operation, the red light comes on: > when the gear is in transit (from down to up or from up to down) and while the gear pump is on. The gear pump should stop when the gear reaches the unlock or the downlock after a cycle. > any abnormal situation. The gear warning or silencing the gear warning is obviously not a "normal" situation. The red light on the gear handle and the "three greens" on the gear indicator come from independent electrical circuits. When you bring back the power lever beyond a certain point (there is a microswitch in the throttle lever), the gear warning comes on. You can silence the warning with the knob on the left throttle, as shown in the video. This works with the flaps UP and in the flaps APPR position. There are situations where you want to bring the power back for faster descents, like I did on the final approach. To alert the pilot that this is a "non standard" situation, the red light stays on. But CAUTION: If you do a landing with flaps on APPR, the gear warning will not come on! So Beechcraft installed another safety barrier: If you leave the gear up and extend the flaps to FULL, then the gear warning comes on again and it CANNOT BE SILENCED. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido Please subscribe to my channel - thank you!

Thanks again for another informative video. Are the condition levers fully forward through all phases of flight?
@GuidoWarnecke8 ай бұрын
In a King Air there is normally no need to do this. However on a hot day in a hi elevation airport, with the air condition on and hi generator load, you put the condition levers to high idle to keep the ITT on the ground within limits (higher rpm -> more airflow through the engine -> lower ITT).
