so if you're cleared to cross 27L you don't have to stop at the hold short lines? much love guido!
@GuidoWarneckeКүн бұрын
A clearance to cross a runway is exactly that: a clearance to cross the runway. Nevertheless you look that the approach path is clear and while on the runway you switch ALL lights on. ATC can only clear you to cross one runway at a time. For example a clearance to cross 27L and 27R is not permitted. Runway incursions occur daily and are a big risk factor. I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas! Happy Landing, Capt. Guido

Nice impressions you captured! One question with the GPS jamming. We have it many times flying Eastbounds in the region of Turkey. On a Airliner with IRS not that big of a deal but what do you do with the Garmin GPS as your single source of FMS? Sometimes you are outside VOR coverage how do you deal with that?

Any reason you weren't flying a coordinated turn with some right rudder in there?
@GuidoWarnecke3 күн бұрын
There is never a reason to fly an uncoordinated turn. Sloppy flying from my side, but the “ball” was never far out. And speed was 100kts, at least 40kts above stall speed. As you may know (or may not know), the rudder of the Caravan is sensitive to speed and power changes. As a side note: I perceive your comment as condescending. What place has sarcasm in a professional comment? To you and your family I wish a Merry Christmas. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido
@bikeguy30343 күн бұрын
@GuidoWarnecke Sorry, not meant as condescending at all. I see you are a very experienced and professional pilot so thought I would pose the question, maybe helped in that specific instance of flight? My experience is as a FE on military aircraft so used to very strict flying! My piloting experience is limited to PPL GA flying, so defer to your experience!

I am not a pilot and in my life of 72 years, I have had only four flights. One in a Bell 47, one in a a Cessna 150, one in a Bell UH-1 and one in a Beechcraft Queen Air. Never in a commercial plane. The Queen Air was one great flight. Day trip from Columbia South Carolina to Fort Wayne Indiana and back. What a nice ride. But I just love the looks of the 182. Beautiful plane I would love to fly.

I am not really sure what you mean. I talk to air traffic control on the radio and do the occasional "call out" to myself.
