King Charles heads to work to meet with ambassadors travelling by carriage 👑

King Charles III travels in the Rolls Royce Phantom IV State Car to Buckingham Palace for a day of meeting with ambassadors who arrived by carriage, before then travelling to Canary Wharf in a 2020 Bentley Mulsanne. You may also spot the Queen Consort in her Audi!
The Rolls Royce Phantom IV was acquired by Princess Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh in 1950, and has remained with the royal family ever since. The 2020 Bentley Mulsanne is used for more modern day-to-day activity outside of Buckingham Palace, and comes with all the security features you'd expect of a VIP vehicle used for police protective duties. These vehicles are escorted by the Special Escort Group of the Metropolitan Police, with a Range Rover following for close protection.
The carriages, known as Landaus, are housed at the Royal Mews at Buckingham Palace along with the stately cars, and are used to transport ambassadors to the palace for an audience with the king. You may also see them during The Coronation with a variety of different horses from the Royal Mews and the Metropolitan Police's Mounted Division.

For those to whom such things matter- The Rolls Royce here is one of only 16 Phantom IVs. It was built for Queen Elizabeth, he Princess, in 1950, and in 1952 received a unique mascot of St George (Patron Saint of England) slaying the Dragon. (The mascot can be transferred to different cars). King Charles' mascot appear to be a Lion h car is more than 70 tears old. Edward VII, George V, George VI, an Queen Mary owned Daimlers. Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth acquired a Rolls Royce every decade or so: a 1950 Phantom IV, 1961 Phantom V, 1968 Phantom VI, 1977 Phantom VI for the Silver Jubilee, then in 2002, a Bentley. These cars have all remained in use and may be seen transporting members of the Royal Family on occasions when carriages and open landaus are not used.

if they are regular drivers in London they just accept it. The traffic /security police have everything under their control mat you'll have noticed with that estate car that came up in the middle of the road to cover the exit from BP only to move back as the carriages came out. I've never before noticed those steel barriers that can be raised when the gates are open .

The police outriders for the King come from SEG - Special Escort Group - their motorbikes are white only; they use whistles and not sirens; they have fewer blue lights. Ordinary police outriders have bikes in white, yellow and blue, and they use sirens. Interesting to see the horse guards salute Clarence House - when the King is in residence. I am always proud of how tolerant the British public are - no hooting etc from the cars being held up by the carriages.

A heir apparent (to the throne) automatically becomes King the moment the previous reigning monarch dies. (That is why the royal standard does not fly half mast ever because there is a monarch always). The title for the British Monarch is His Majesty (for King) and Her Majesty (for the Queen or the Queen Consort). Hope that helps :)

I don’t understand what you are asking. What do you think is wrong with the horses? What’s wrong with the carriages? They all seem to be fine to me. If you are asking why are the horses and carriages out on the streets then it’s because they are rehearsing for the Coronation. Everything is planned down to the last second, all the equipment had to be checked to ensure it’s in full working order. All the personnel taking part have to know exactly what they are supposed to do, how to do it and when to do it (whatever it is). These events are always fully planned andrehearsed.

With all the modernization, I would prefer it if the king and his relatives drove to and from the coronation in luxurious official cars, like in an outdated carriage that is a really great museum piece. Precisely because King Charles III, William and Kate now had important appointments in the direction of politics and they are therefore seen more as heads of state than just outdated pompous monarchs. Therefore, for people who represent England as a chorus of diplomats, a contemporary mobilization with (Rolls Roys, Bentley, Audi, Mercedes-Benz) would also be appropriate.
