Very nice early version. I am listening as a result of the passing of Peter Sinfield, the lyricist. It's nice to hear the late Greg Lake as well in his early King Crimson days.

Wessex Studios was a converted Victorian church hall in North London. After the first album, King Crimson recorded "In the Wake of Poseidon" and "Lizard" in Wessex as well. Queen, Sex Pistols, The Pretenders, The Clash, The Damned are among bands that were recorded later in Wessex. The last great works to be born in Wessex were Talk Talk's last two albums, "Spirit of Eden" and "Laughing Stock". In 2003 the studio closed and was sold to a residential developer.

Grinds my gears that everyone always gives Fripp ALL the credit alongside highlighting the debut album the most when Ian McDonald seemed to have a pretty big hand in composing the gorgeous gentle prog that this album sort of pioneered. Rest in Power, king.
@gfgarner130125 күн бұрын
Ah, yes. Ian McDonald. No doubt he was a monster on the first King Crimson album. Funny thing is that he sort of disappeared afterwards. Sure, there was McDonald and Giles album after that, which one might have expected to be nearly as ground-breaking as ITCOTCK, but was mediocre in comparison. Then the guy largely disappears after that except for a minor gig with Foreigner (who later learned they would get along fine without him). One might argue that it took Fripp to bring out the best in McDonald, but we'll never know. He went to his grave regretting his departure from KC.
@Zyborggian24 күн бұрын
@@gfgarner1301 Am I crazy or when he left with him went his melodic pastoral orchestrated mellotrons prog sound that almost everyone ripped off.
@Zyborggian24 күн бұрын
@@gfgarner1301 I feel like KC is more heavy and avant prog besides large chunks of that debut album a lot of the time. Well they're calming and melodic but I've never heard them be so in the particular way they were on the debut again

🌬 _I Talk To The Wind_ 🍃 Said the straight man to the late man Where have you been? I've been here and I've been there And I've been in between I talk to the wind My words are all carried away I talk to the wind The wind does not hear The wind cannot hear I'm on the outside looking inside What do I see? Much confusion, disillusion All around me I talk to the wind My words are all carried away I talk to the wind The wind does not hear The wind cannot hear You don't possess me Don't impress me Just upset my mind Can't instruct me or conduct me Just use up my time I talk to the wind My words are all carried away I talk to the wind The wind does not hear The wind cannot hear I talk to the wind My words are all carried away I talk to the wind The wind does not hear The wind cannot hear Said the straight man to the late man Where have you been?
