I was 16 when I bought this album. I heard it through a couple of times. It didn't do much for me at first. But then i found myself humming some of the melodylines restless in bed at night. I put on the album again and then started listening to it every day. What a masterpiece this is. All the different parts and melodies. Now I'm 46 and i still find myself listening to it sometimes when I can't sleep. Thinking of life and all the things I should have done since 16. Life is precious and goes too fast. My advice is: Start a family. Have kids. Take care of the wife and your job. And sometimes put on this record and escape from everything. You can still do normal family stuff and be a heavy rocker at the same time.

I saw King Diamond live a few months before the pandemic. I started filming when they played Welcome Home and all you can hear is hundreds of 50 year old dudes with horrendous attempts at falsetto singing “Grandmaaaaa”. King’s voice was mesmerizing.
