King Frederik and Queen Mary kiss in first appearance as monarchs

King Frederik and Queen Mary were all smiles as they shared a surprise kiss on the balcony of Christiansborg Palace in their first historic appearance as monarchs.
The monarchs were also joined by their children Prince Christian, Princess Isabella, Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine on the balcony, where they waved to the crowd.
On the first day of their reign, Mary and Frederik and the entire royal family will participate in the Danish Parliament’s formal celebration of the succession of the throne.
The new King and Queen will also be marked spiritually in a celebratory church service at Aarhus Cathedral on Sunday.

What an overwhelming moment ! I started crying when King Frederik, Queen Mary and their children came together on the balcony to send greetings and thanks to their people, they all looked so happy. For years we are faced with news about war, threatening the neighbor countries, fugitives and much more, therefore in my opinion this event was very welcomed to warm our hearts and bring back confidence. May the Royal Family live in peace and harmony, and Queen Margrethe Ii. have many years ahead in good health !

Good thing our new Royal Couple have both been quite outspoken about Climate issues etc. In 2019 they were official protectors of a Climate Forum ( c40 world mayors summit ). They also hosted a Royal Dinner for the participants. And at the table of Crown Princess Mary a certain now well known US politician, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, was seated in a prominent position. She was invited to the Forum as a speaker due to her Green new Deal resolution. Those policies are quite mainstream here in Scandinavia. That Forum was officially opened by our prime Minister Mette Frederiksen. She was also the one, who Proclamed ( Udråbte ) the new Reigning Monarch from the balkony, btw.

Queen Elizabeth and Queen Margrethe had been the longest reigning monarchs in Europe and the only women since 2013 after Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands abdicated. Now royal Europe is only ruled by men but in future we will have Leonor for Spain, Catarina Amalia for the Netherlands, Elizabeth for Belgium, Ingrid Alexandra for Norway, Victoria and Estelle for Sweden.

There was a big smile on her face. Then she got up, her grandson handed her the cane and she indicated for her son to take his place at the table as the monarch. This was the full cabinet. The monarch, the Crown Prince, the Prime minister and her cabinet of ministers. No one else is usually present. The Queen left because she wanted the focus to be on the new king and her parting words were: God Save the King.

If they do, it will be called "Dronning Mary". How would that have anything to do with "the British"? Through the ages there have been many Danish ships named after Danish Royals. After all Danmark is a country of islands! And also still one of the top seafaring nations worldwide. With many major shipping companies. Mærsk Lines obviously by far the biggest. Nothing to be "proud" of, but the ship that rammed the Baltimore bridge recently was chartered by Mærsk Lines. A few of the ships hit by the Houthies were also Danish owned ships.

I found it intriguing that the Danish Queen abdicated so soon after receiving a communication asking her to send empathetic wishes to a descendant of the eldest son of Edward (7th) and Alexendra (of Denmark), who was born, baptised, abandoned and unannounced in 1862, in South Africa. His descendant was very ill in an English hospital and would have much appreciated such a kindly gesture but, as with the Romanov Royal Family, the UK and Danish Royal Families callously declined to be of any assistance, to their detriment in my opinion. The DNA of said descendents is irrefutable evidence, despite the snubbing from their Royal relatives.

The last Danish king who had a coronation with a crown and sceptre was Christian VIII in 1839. The crowns are now displayed in a museum along with the royal jewells that aren't in use atm.
