I’ve not listened to one King gizzard album yet. Where should I start?

Oh. Boy. Howdy. It REALLY depends. Like, I mean, it REALLY depends. What styles do you enjoy the most? They range from everything from 80s style synthwave to thrash metal to Beatlesesque sounds.... Do you like lore? Do you like western story telling with spaghetti western style music? I'd say the most user friendly are Fishing for Fishies and b741. Paper Mache Dream Balloon too. Ice Death is a personal favorite. I'd argue this band is equally good live and in albums.

@@walterooski I’m of the mind that I can like anything in any genre if it’s done well. Phish got me to your channel as I’ve been a fan since 1994. I love ween , I love hip hop , I love so many things. I mean i don’t really discriminate. There so much that it just seems so daunting.

The ELTS take is sooo based. The tier list is pretty good actually but the main changes I would do is change Laminated Denim with FAFYL, Polygondwanaland with PMDB and Quarters with B3K. Also Made in Timeland is pretty underrated and I think that the concept of the clock shines more compared to Laminated Denim, still Hypertension is in my top 3 Gizz songs and The Land Before Timeland is just outside the top 10

Poly as B tier is interesting but I think I agree. In group polls I feel like that one has often been listed as a favorite by many and I'm always thinking well it's very good and probably the most complex of their albums, but if I were to pick my top 10 favorites personally I don't think it'd make the cut.

Definitely will recommend listing to live in red rocks 22 from them, not even on a stream but as personal time, its amazing, theres a reason why its at #5 on rym for best live albums

I'm keen on getting into Gizz, but have no clue which album to listen to first! I'm a huge black midi fan, and Gerodie Greeps solo album is now one of my favourites of all time.... If that helps for any recommendations..

So, Gizz hasn't quite done jazz fusion to the extent that you'll find with BM or Greep. With that in mind, I'm gonna give you a few album ideas. Polygondwanaland might be a good start. You will get more psychedelic than jazz, but there's certainly a jazz inspiration in almost everything they do. Murder of the Universe: An amazing lore driven concept album. Unbelievable. So much happening in it. Definitely chaotic. Infest the Rats' Nest is a metal concept album about a dystopian world where we've gutted our planet (a metal ode to environmentalism). Fishing for Fishies, Paper Mache Dream Balloon and Flight b741 might be the most "user friendly" in general. If you're looking for jazz, give Sketches of Brunswick East and Changes a try.

Well if you're a fan of the crazy polyrhythms then Polygondwanaland, Petrodragonic Apocalypse, Murder of the Universe, or Butterfly 3000 are all great in very different ways

Where I differ from you: Nonagon is B tier for me. FMB is S tier for me. Quarters is B for me, lonely steel sheet flyer is such a great tune. Sketches is S tier for me. Polygondwanaland is S tier for me. Fishing for Fishies is A tier for me. Infest the rats nest is D tier for me. LW is S tier ( I love the microtonal stuff). BF3k is S tier. Omnium is A tier. Time land is B. Laminated Denim is B. PDA is D tier for me (couldn’t get through the album, metal just isn’t for me but I like Gila Monster lol). TSC is for sure better live than on the album but I still rate it B
