Who was King Henry VIII's male heir?
In this video, we see the real faces and explore the lives of three important figures from English history: King Henry VIII, his son Edward VI, and Lady Jane Grey also known as "Nine Days' Queen".
We start with Henry VIII, who is famous for his six marriages and his role in the English Reformation. We then move on to his son, Edward VI, who became king at a young age and implemented Protestant reforms during his short reign.
Finally, we learn about Lady Jane Grey, who was briefly queen of England but was ultimately executed for her role in a plot to overthrow the Catholic queen Mary I. Through their stories, we gain insight into the politics and religious turmoil of 16th century England.

Poor Jane was a pawn of her father in laws ambitions. The Dudley marriage was certainly not her idea. It is a shame she was embroiled in the rebellion in which she had no part. However as a potential rival to the throne Queen Mary had no choice but to have her executed. No wonder Elizabeth had a horror of marriage even though the younger Dudley son was her love for many years.

Actually Henry VIII and Elizabeth I each had more people executed than Mary I, even taking into consideration the length of their individual reigns.

That was really good Panagiotis. English history is very interesting going back to its beginning. Tell me, I asked you if you could find some history on the Vikings 793-1066, like what may have they looked like? I understand if you couldn't find anything, or maybe through the English, Irish and Scottish?

I could give it a look, but it's called the Dark ages for a reason. There are no sculptures, or any paintings from that era.

@@panagiotisconstantinou boy 👑👸🤴🗡💥that english crown is drenched in blood💥henry v111 was once a thin young man but the middle of his life he got Large!!!300 pounds that's Heavy! this tudor dynasty lasted until Elizabeth the daughter of ann boleyn, it seems to christianity and the protestant movement also became involved in geo political politics as just because henry wouldn't accept pope Clements rejection of Catherine of Aragon henry then broke away looting catholic monasteries the famous one is Glastonbury, and made the protestant church the new church ,when mary the daughter of Catherine took the throne she became bloody Mary due to her mass execution of protestants she even had the future Elizabeth imprisoned before she died as she had a phantom pregnancy before her death boy very trying times to live the 16century thanks for the visual graphics of bringing antiochus 111s features to life well done!!💯💯👍well see how epiphanies comes out I am aware from certain seleucid coins antiochus at first looks clean shaven, but gradually he had coins of himself growing a beard he seems to have been relating himself as zeus,as his name epiphanies means God manifest

I get fed up with ‘praising’ you with each and every film - but this time I feel it’s soo richly deserved - do you think that the fall Henry had during his marriage to Anne, or, as been recently reported, Chapuys (Spanish Ambassador) would have written many letters describing Henry’s fall and his descent into ‘madness’ ? I suppose we’ll never know - thank you !! ♥️

I love these. I would have loved to see younger Henry but still, it’s nice to see him smile. Same for Edward. With all he did to Catholics, his destruction of the monasteries & iconography, it’s easy to forget he was a kid. Manipulated & controlled all his life, we have no way to know how he’d have ruled long term, on his own. But Jane? That’s the one that looks the most alive & real. She was also so young, with so much potential. I wish Mary hadn’t been pushed to execute her. I suspect she’d have been a powerful voice in the Protestant faith (which desperately needed some female representation after a series of leaders who were misogynistic even for their own time). Elizabeth & Jane could have come to terms that shifted religious history. Something about seeing these faces as if they were alive makes me wonder about their lives & alternative futures.

Edward looks like Jane Seymour. Edward may have been manipulated to put Jane in as queen. It was technically illegal. Henry will clearly said the crown went to Mary, then Elizabeth.

Have Royal blood in her veins- Elizabeth 1 feared she has a better claim to the throne than herself. Oh I'm sure there were other reasons but that stands out to me.

I hate to be picky but you showed movie footage of Mary Queen of Scots being executed, not Lady Jane Grey. There was a movie from the 1980's with Helena Bonham Carter who played Jane Grey called Lady Jane.
