I'm in awe over the accuracy of this gun. Just a tiny movement and the shell will land 100 yards from it's target. But somehow someone figured out how to make sure this gun always hits within 10 yards of it's target.

It will do so if those m982 Excalibur rounds are used. with "normal" unguided artillery rounds it just has a cep of 50-200m .. like most artillery...

@@MaxC_1 well, yeah you're right. I just want to point out that '10 yards' is basically impossible without guided shells. Especially with MRSI firing capabilities those 50 to 200m are pretty good.

Hearing that from a distance is still loud. And if you are close enough, and the artillery is firing over you, you can hear the round flying through the air over your head. Really did happen at Iron Focus, I think. I think it was Iron Focus. If ya know ya know🤷. Fun times lol

I still am boggled that the Gustav Cannon was essentially this but scaled up to a ridiculous degree. A cannon capable of taking a city. If only it could move beyond its tracks.

The M777A2 is equipped with, gps, gyroscopes, computers, and radios. The displays the gunner and a-gunner use are digital and accurate within a tenth of a mil. The section chief can see the the displays of the gunner and assistant gunner from his own handheld digital display. It's very technically advanced

Did I hear “permission to prime?” Served on the old M198 back in the day and I never asked a soul for permission to prime. You've got the section chief, gunner, #1 man... Then there are others who are putting fuzes on the shells, clearing the breach, and they rotate out.

American howitzer can fire with 10x the accuracy, 2x the power, and 4x the distance. Using a 50yr old howitzers is idiotic. I understand what you mean by "parts are expensive and hard to come by in a junkyard or a derelict truck" and thats only because you dont live in America where the production is in abundance. Superior Firepower 🦅🇺🇲 24/7 365.

That was my section back when I was in 1-151. I was the truck monkey. The AG Sgt Wallen was on the Fargo PD and sadly killed while on duty

Howitzers are something fierce. They were shooting close compared to how far they could reach out to. With the proper clear path, you'd barely hear the round coming in, and it could punch through a tank.

Forward observer would give us coordinates..#bags = range..load, close breech block and fire. 105mm, 155mm towed and SP109...hard to believe its been over 50 years..
