Nice to see some love for Aventus Cologne! I love it, it's my only Creed. It smells fantastic and performance is outstanding! Still need to test it in summer, but i must say in winter it works pretty good as Well.

I don't know why, but I don't like that they call this one and Viking Cologne as Flankers.....I get it. But disagree based on how unique both of these fragrance's are. And like you mentioned the performance and actual fragrance itself is outstanding Great to hear from you @Teddy Bear

@@TheNicheFragranceCollector Agree completely , it reminds me of Versace pour homme but then Creed Quality and more depth. It is very enjoyable for the wearer. People always shit on it, but they don't even own a bottle🤷‍♂️. Viking Cologne i have never tried. That's also one that gets a lot of hate. Will try to sample that one. 😉

Yep, I would recommend to you Viking cologne, personally I think it’s a complete different take on the original Viking. You can’t compare the two in my opinion…. Once you test it out @teddy bear I would love to know your thoughts

Viking is amazing, my favorite creed in my collection....love that clove note. When I first smelled it, I was honestly blown away by how bold it is. I don't know why it gets so much hate, guess a lot of people don't like old school " barber shop" type scents which they tend to label Viking as. Aventus cologne is great, I had 2 decants of it. I prefer the original Aventus though for the pineapple, and it works just as well in summer....actually all year round to be honest.

From my experience @The_Void you are the rare 1% that love Viking from the get go....you're the 'early adopter'! For me personally it was that clove note that felt like a slap across the face😂....mind you I love Viking now but that opening still has me on my toes And yes, Aventus is that classic all year round fragrance.....I just really enjoy that 'cologne' style citrus burst that Aventus Cologne provides (summer in a bottle☀️)

Love Aventus Cologne, I’d put that up against any fragrance. I think it’s a masterpiece that’s going to remain a top fragrance for a long time.

Yeah it could definitely go against any fragrance it’s pretty perfect blend of Aventus and Designer it’s a hybrid and no person can say it doesn’t smell good

Love both of these. I enjoy wearing Aventus Cologne on the hottest of days, it really shines and lasts my entire work day. I like Viking in the summer just as much as winter, because of the mentholated barbershop vibe it’s nice to wear out of the shower and a shave. Maybe not so much on extremely hot days, but cooler summer days it’s nice but definitely shines in winter. There are two reasons why I think they named it Viking… Perhaps imagine a Viking ship smelling like this as it returns from a voyage, the ship filled with spices, herbs, and other aromatics and goods collected from a journey of pillage and trade. The other reason and probably the most sensible would be if they had a ship on the bottle and called it “Very Old Spice” they’d most definitely get sued lol. But I do think this is a solid niche version of Old Spice.

I agree. Aventus Cologne IS better then Aventus. It’s a regular in my rotation. I actually crave the smell. Creed is by far the best niche line-up of fragrances.

Yep, Ali you're not alone on this. It took me months to fall in love with Viking. And it was a love/hate relationship primarily because my son loved it so much, I wanted to love it too....but that opening😩 The funny thing now, I enjoy that 'wacky' opening but definitely waiting for the drydown to kick in!😉

Aventus Cologne lasted 16hrs on my skin I was surprised my guess is because Aventus Cologne has less fruit and citrus than the OG that makes it last longer. I think because the OG has so many fruits and citrus notes is what make it not last as long as AC. But I have to admit OG does smell better overall.

Yesterday i finally got to spray each wrist with viking cologne and Aventus cologne at the mall (the samples in the mail were taking forever). I love love both originals but i have been looking for fresh dumb reaches for everyday wear that were still well above designer quality. I only got one light wear for them but i am wondering if aventus cologne is the best all rounder of any fragrance i've tested so far! I've got high hopes for the viking cologne as well (i felt i was getting a bit too noseblind in the mall that day to properly evaluate.) I was so wrong to initially assume those frags would just be weak versions of the originals. I may be a creed fanboy for life at this point.

Isn't it funny that Aventus Cologne has gone almost 'under the radar' with most perfume lovers. I think that Aventus is such a big dog that we dismiss anything else as 'just a flanker'. But like you, I was really surprised by this one and feel that it has more things going for it (really love using this one). I find that Viking Cologne is brilliant and has a unique twist on the original but I find that longevity is less (clearly more citrus notes, hence they dissipate faster). I may be new to the game, but i've sniffed a lot of stuff in the last few months, and those who say creed is weak and unoriginal and a greedy house in decline are just part of a bandwagon of haters going after what is popular. Fact is, Creed is amazing, and the negativity to the flankers of aventus and viking is totally unfounded. If there is one thing i've learned about fragrances, it is that psychological state is extremely relevant in how the scents are perceived.

OK, here we go: Viking is more like a variation of an ode to the traditional Bay Rum than it is to what so many compare it to - classic Old Spice. Its overall vibe and wearability, that being an easy-wear everyday, mostly casual scent, is much like a Bay Rum. Sweet spices dominate in both, and instead of a Bay Rum's slightly camphorous bay leaf, Viking replaces it with a mentholated mint note. Sweet spices, camphoration/mentholation. Take out the rum and add lavender, and instead of a Caribbean pirate's daily odor-masking scent (the historical origins of the Bay Rum) we have a more modern and sophisticated analogue. Why the name Viking? I think it's the "fire and ice" associations of the warm spiciness and cool mentholation. But I like to think Vikings were Scandanavian pirates, to complete the connection to their Caribbean brother's elixer.

James I love the history on Bay Rum (firstly I was unaware of this fragrance) and yes, I do love the comparison with the Caribbean pirates (100% our Nordic friends were pirates...they basically practised the same pillaging rituals😱) Awesome description...I'm going to have to explore Bay Rum! @@TheNicheFragranceCollector I think it's a winter fragrance but I would wear it during fall or on a rainy night in summer but not when it's hot or during the daytime. I'm just waiting for my package to arrive for the royal oud, silver mountain water ,green Irish tweed and see if they can beat the Vikings. But I think Viking is my kind of a style so let's see. You just have to find the right clonge that represents you, not the smell that impresses you

I don't like the opening notes of Viking but it gets better and stronger every hour past by. And thank you, I tried royal oud today and silver mountain water today and both are not my styles tbh

Yep I agree, if you use the fragrance in the season that it was designed for, then the perfume really pops. Good on you for trying out Royal Oud
