I'm a musician and Irish dancer from Dublin, and have heard dancers dance to this song for years. I was looking around KZbin to see how people play it, and NOBODY else I found plays it with a swing like this, which is how it's supposed to be played. Either all the notes are somehow wrong, or it's all straight 8th notes and has no hornpipe feel. I loved this, and your rendition of The Butterfly slip jig. Thank you from Dublin!

My first interaction with this song is from a game called Morrowind. The song came from a mod someone made back in 2005-2008... a huge castle with Nordic/Irish mythos tied to the few quests involved with it. It plays in a dockside tavern, with a talking fish that begins "Drunken Sailor" if you ask it to. But I always remember "King of the Fairies" because I had to request it from the band that was playing in that tavern. All aside, I completely forgot about "peakfiddler" around 2013, and just now decided to search for "King of the Fairies." Boom. It's there right here, with a tab I can play on my mandolin. So much love from the Aspect of Music, my friend. Also so good to see this channel still kicking.

Beautiful! Thank you, sir. Love the grace-notes and ornamentation. Many years ago, I heard a 4-man group sing lyrics to this melody. Might have been "The King's Singers"? " I wish I was, I wish I was, a child again, to walk and wander in the lovely Fairy Glen"...

Hi Sally, I can't remember what I did with this one, if I uploaded the notation or not. Anyway, I will give it another glance over and see whether it needs NOT/TAB and maybe even a lesson of sorts. If you press that little bell icon on my KZbin channel and ask to be updated, each time I add a video you will be notified, then if I manage to get one made you will be notified. Hope that helps.
