honestly, I like both the normal and JPN version of this final boss theme, but if I was to implement this into the non JPN version properly, I'd have this play for when you aren't max level, to paint a more dangerous sounding tone over the usual power rush ya get from the original feeling wise.

I would’ve loved this to play as the Phase 1 music, then Phase 2 would restart the song as the English version. This version is still cool and a bit lighter while still having a final boss vibe. Then top it with the next phase being the English version leaning more to heavy rock.

Honestly, hearing this after the English version kinda makes me laugh a bit. There's quite a few things added, like the sonar ping sounds, and the funky attacker bass they love adding in all their bosses. And then the drop for the best part comes in- my god. Brass??? It literally sounds like a metal guitar track, there's no way THIS was the first version they went with.

In the description you wrote that it plays when Mario fights Bowser again in the JP version. Bowser's battle is divided in two parts: in the first one he's invincible, in the second one he's vulnerable. When the second part starts, Mario figths Bowser again. My question is: does it play when Mario has been defeated by Bowser and tries again, or does it just play during the second battle? About the second case, here's my thoughts: The original sounds much more intense. Bowser has been caught off guard by the sudden loss of his invincibility, but that doesn't stop him from giving his all. With or without invincibility, Bowser will give to Mario a bad time. The first part sounds intimidating, the drop shows that Bowser has had it with Mario's attempts at beating him, and the third part... well, I'm not sure about it. Maybe, it reflects about Mario's upcoming victory. Mario will win, no matter what. Why? Because he's Mario, duh! It goes... down, Mario is slowly defeating Bowser. But then, the song loops. Bowser can heal himself. The fight continues. This one sounds less rockin'. Bowser already beat Mario, who's now, yet again, trying to beat him. Bowser is even more confident, he fully believes that he's gonna win because he already beat Mario. It sounds more creepy, since Bowser has proved once again how powerful he is. It doesn't sound as intense as before because Bowser won once again, he has owned Mario for the umpteenth time in the *same* game, not multiple games, in *ONE* game. He gave hell to Mario, now he's just enjoying owning Mario yet again. I don't know if when Mario game overs in the final battle against Bowser the game goes back to the last savestate and no one in-game remembers about it, or the characters remember about it. In the second case, YOU still remember it. YOU saw Bowser owning Mario yet again. The song has changed because you saw it happen. But what if this plays in any occasion in the JP version? What if the version we all know isn't present in the JP version? In the case, what I said about this version applies anyway. Bowser has been caught off guard, but he already gave hell to Mario, he's still sure that he'll win, he proved once again how powerful he is and blah blah blah. This makes more sense IMO. Why has the first song, which reflects on how powerful and almost invincible and unstoppable Bowser has become, named "Bowser's Rage" when the more intense and rockin' song has been named "King of the Koopas"? Shouldn't it be the other way around? If this is the original version, it'd make more sense that they've been called like this... but not completely.

The English version wasn't in Mario Story (Paper Mario's Japanese verison) at all. This is the one that plays in the 2nd part in Japan. It was changed in other regions.

why did they make regional variants?
@NKBlazer2 жыл бұрын
Can’t say for sure, but my guess is regional differences in desired sound styles for audiences. This version favors more to brass and keyboard, while the other favors more to an electric guitar. I’m thinking the non Japanese version they anticipated those audiences wanting a more “rock guitar” boss theme.
