A very fine choir, in a fabulous acoustic with just intonation singing will do it, every time.

At Bristol Cathedral we also used to get faster and sharper everytime we did it, and the conductor would storm off to the organ loft!!!!!

Usually not. There are many instances where the choir sings a capella, with the organ entering in the same key the choir just left, and there is no tuning issues.

the score allows both ways. having organ or even brass ensemble doubling choral parts wasn't uncommon in the renaissance.
