To this day, I still can never ever get over the protagonist’s soul crushing death wail.

Your work is so underrated, every upload is phenomenal. Even if I've never played or heard of the game in question I know without doubt your coverage is always leagues more entertaining and informative than almost any creator on this platform. Hope all is well on your end, keep up the great work and be safe.

Great video (as usual) Dave! Laughed very loud and woke my wife up at the ”in my day, you didnt have tutorials, you just DIED”, this quote sums up the ”trial and error” era of games very cleverly.

I wanna thank you, this is the video that got me into King's Field and the older FromSoft works and I've been in love ever since. Even wound up using your let's play for a guide when I got stuck at certain parts so thanks for the assist! (Also you better believe I used that boots exploit.)

Honestly never played King’s Field, but after your review I definitely want to! Loved Dark Souls and others of the sort so this seems right up my alley.
@SuperDaveControl3 жыл бұрын
I highly recommend it. Although, I might recommend starting with King's Field IV (Ancient City) first, as it's not such a graphical downgrade, haha (Unless you don't mind nostalgia graphics like this)
@d.k.o.97513 жыл бұрын
Agree to Dave's answer. If you want to play go for KF Ancient City first. It is a gem of a game and offers you a lot of exploration, story and interesting monsters/ bosses. (you can find it free on the web) So there is no reason not to play. Otherwise check out Dave's Let's play! Old but gold. ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/m3m2aIBndp2Hia8&ab_channel=DaveControl )

I'd suggest emulation for these games and shadow tower. Rebinding the look and move controls to analog sticks and the face buttons to the shoulders makes the experience a million times more palatable.
@SuperDaveControl3 жыл бұрын
I still need to get through Shadow Tower and Shadow Tower: Abyss - I genuinely need to do this.
@propheinx22503 жыл бұрын
@@SuperDaveControl in shadow tower, you made it to about where I did as a kid. I totally screwed myself by selling my good weapon for a weapon I thought would be better but was a lot worse. I found myself incapable of fighting the enemies that surrounded me and was forced to restart, so I never ended up renting it again. I seem to remember you making it to about where I did... and then stopped. That was like its own form of torture lol.

After finding out I could remap controls on emulation, that's the only way I can play games with these controls now.
@SuperDaveControl3 жыл бұрын
I've still never emulated the games... other I'd be curious to try a modern control scheme. (And so badly want a remaster of these games).

Never knew about these games till after Demonss Soulss. It and Shadow Tower are something I'm planning to get a Xbox Series for. (Because of its "secret" ;D ) Although I really hope they get proper remasters.
@propheinx22503 жыл бұрын
These are all games that are honestly a lot better on emulation where you can rebind the controls. After experiencing shadow tower this way, I don't think I could ever go back to the clunky, old school, shoulder controls. It's infinitely better to use the sticks for movement and looking.
@hazzar77843 жыл бұрын
@@propheinx2250 I was able to play Eternal Ring, and while pretty different, I dont mind the shoulder controls. I dont always hold the sticks directly up, plus u get motion sickness easy, so in that game at least, using the analog sticks was iffy. I adapted to the shoulders, but I also like tank controls so. I still imagine emulation is the way to go though, for many other quality of life reasons. If there ever was a remaster, I hope it would be done 'properly' opposed to something like a simple port.
@propheinx22503 жыл бұрын
@@hazzar7784 gotta love tank controls. I still play RE3: Nemesis every year, and tend to beat it multiple times each replay. I have moved to playing it on emulation, but that's because of how much more reliable a save state is than a ps1 memory card.
@hazzar77843 жыл бұрын
@@propheinx2250 RE3 is another I missed. I was playing it in an emulation station last year actually, but complications with the device itself stopped me from completing it. It was really good too. I recall save states being handy when you fall through the road? Theres a worm monster that you have to escape and it seemed very trial and error. Save staves saved me then. As an adult I probably wouldn't have had the patience.
@propheinx22503 жыл бұрын
@@hazzar7784 I know exactly where you're talking about. I've died there a couple times trying to do a no save run. Although I do try to save state in a save room, my experiences as a kid cause me to save state just before it. The real challenge to it is being whittled down by an unavoidable nemesis fight just a single room beforehand.
