They are convinced the whole business is a show put on for their amusement. Seeing as how they are allowed in, and there is even a merch kiosk, they may not be too far off in their assessment. I think, with each passing decade, this kind of pomp does not have the same meaning to people, so is treated like free entertainment, not history.

The guard in this clip shouldn’t have to put up with rude and ignorant tourists who pull his horse’s reins and generally take the mickey out of him! Go home if you can’t respect British customs or traditions.

This is a working military facility. Repairs need to be done. Standing watching a guard take down a chain that you shouldn't even be near, laughing after the time you wasted expecting something magical to happen, turned out to be workmen coming out of a door. Take your damn picture or a short video, stop staring at a working soldier and move on.

Why did the guard remove the chain barrier? That’s a small barrier but it helps keep rude tourist away from the Guard!

It was removed as they are about to change the Guards , boxmen ( mounted Troopers ) gatesman and chitsman , the two on foot .
