If they're like the limited number of pros we have, attacking them or the sovereign will have the attacker discovering the horse is as much as a threat as the rider is. Once got selected for the september 'Throne speech' where the budget is announced by the king. You're taught to ride and must show proficiency to take party, but there's a cadre of professionals who are the actual escort. The horses are trained to kick, bite and trample as the rider indicates. Horses seem to have a good time doing it too, each time one came up you could just see the horse thinking "Yeah, my turn!" In such a case we were supposed to simply turn and ride off controlled as possible. We weren't part of the security response in case of an attack. Last thing they need is people with a couple weeks riding skill and no weapon trying to interfere.

I am from Germany and I visited London/ England two times so far. I really enjoyed my holidays there. BUT, no matter where you take your holiday, you respect their rules and laws and culture. It is as simple as that! Sadly these guards have to be very patient and experience quite often such a manner. Respect and just the best for my brothers and sisters in England.

I did chuckle when the precious little twats ran like little girls when the guard moved the horse straight at them. I served for 21 years in The Australian Army, and while never in a "ceremonial" unit, did many parades and things like catafalque parties for ANZAC day remembrance (in military terms, our most sacred day). Not once in that entire time did I ever experience anything but respect, and appreciation from the public. I guess I was lucky.

@@Lizzie-h3j Most patriotic Americans do appreciate the military. In America culture, its customary to thank soliders. The tourist here does represent some of our American culture and customs well. American tourists may behave badly in general, but they will still take the time to thank a solider before getting drunk and embarrassing themselves at a London restaurant lol...
@thetruepatriot77335 ай бұрын
@@patterdale4332 I agree, expressing our deep appreciation for the military is a uniquely American thing. I'm sure the Brits appreciate their solider as well, but they may not feel the need to always thank them. In America, when you see soldiers on the sidewalk, in a restaurant, or at an airport many people will approach them to thank them for their service. Most of us were taught to always thank a solider when you see them.

It was lovely to hear (after the 4:00 kerfuffle) an American voice say "Thank you for your service!". I'm always expecting the American tourists to be the worst because of all the complaining that i hear from Europeans. We might be obnoxious, but we typically respect those who serve their country. Shalom!
