I’m really proud of this king-size kimchi-filled dumplings recipe. I worked and reworked the ratio and technique until I was fully satisfied with the end result. I ate a lot of mandu! But it was worth it in the end, because these are so good. I’m still eating them!

I think I saw someone left a question here if she can make vegetarian version. I can't find her or his comment now. That's a good question! Dried shiitake mushrooms will be good substitute for meat.

@@zhikalhassan4214 , the ones with chicken, she did not cook in the pan, but the pork or beef, yes. Anyway, I think you can cook the chicken also, I would do it, but chicken cooks fast in the steam, so I guess it would be ok.

So today I decided to make polish dumplings(pierogi) tomorrow. To do this I need to prepare the inside a day earlier.Traditionally they are made with potatoes and white cheese called “twaróg”, (or sauerkraut with mushrooms, or meat etc). So I’ve peeled the potatoes, boiled them, and then it came out that I have too many potatoes. I looked around the kitchen, saw a cabbage and thought kimchi, Maangchi! What I did was: took 3 leaves of the cabbage, washed them, sliced and let them sit in salt for a while, then I put it on a pan, mixed with one TBS rice vinegar. Once it was soft, I combined it with crushed potatoes, and dried mushrooms. It came out very tasty. YOU ARE AN EXTREME INSPIRATION!!! THANK YOU!!!

I made this today...i follow all exact ingredients and measurements...my only mistake is I rolled it too thinly and made a little hole when I'm wrapping, but still delicious and it's my first attempt. I can do better in my next attempt. Thank you Mangchi❤️

In russia we have a dish which is like almost the same and it is called manti(it is originally from Kazachstan or Uzbekistan I do not remember ) but we use ground meat and onion and we only steam them BUT it is so tasty I could eat a whole steamer just by myself...

I know this was posted just over 4 years ago; but you did ask for comments on other ways to eat kimchi. My daughters & I live in an area where it can become extremely hot during the summer. One very hot day, we were looking for a cool dinner, that did not require any cooking. We had left-over rice, a couple of hard boiled eggs, thin sliced (lunch meat) Honey Ham, & Kimchi. We liked all of the ingredients. We took a slice of the luncheon ham, cut in in half, (the short way), wrapped it around a big hunk of Kimchi, added a wedge of hard boiled egg (We cut each egg in half, long ways, then each half into 4 wedges, for a total of 8 wedges) & bit into it. It was like a bite of heaven! Once we added in the left-over rice, we had a complete meal. Two proteins, starch, & veggie. The egg & lunch ham went well with the rice & everything went deliciously well with the Kimchi. It is still a favorite snack & meal on hot days. We are always ready for some luncheon ham wrapped around extra hot Kimchi. The ham cuts the heat on the Kimchi, while adding its own unique flavor. We did try it with other lunch meats, as well as left-over ham, from holiday meals. Thin sliced luncheon ham worked out the best. The idea was to enhance flavor of the Kimchi, not change it, or to do away with it. It also works with the less hot Kimchi recipes. Just be aware that the lunch ham does cut some of the heat from the Kimchi. That's why we upgraded from hot to extra hot Kimchi. Hope this gives someone some ideas on different ways to enjoy Kimchi.
