I agree. Too much weathering on them. They do look like they were in service for 30 years. I was in a mechanized unit for 6 years and our vehicles were old when I got to the unit. They were no where weathered as much as this model.

@@smc-2 Ok, I didn't know that imported products are so expensive in Japan. In Spain there is not so much difference in price between Japanese products (Tamiya and Gunze, mainly. Gaia Notes, nobody knows about them ) compared to Spanish products (Ammo, Ak, Vallejo....)

Pastel Technique, good generous weathering. Used once before but your way much more ' lively ' . Orange Pastel+Yellow pastel = basic rust weathering. I will learn those technique from Sensei!

Mud doesn't accumulate on the tracks of a moving tank. Wheel hubs ok,hull ok, the track movement keeps the track very clean. Dark grey/brown color. Steel highlights where ground contact is made. Very shiny steel when metal rubs on metal.

Crews did clean their vehicles and did repaint them, so this weathering level is probably too much. However, it's amazing (real art and amazing technique - you are a master) and could be suitable on a Panzer three that has seen three years of action on the Eastern Front!

Tamiya's acrylic paint uses Tamiya's X-20ATHINNER for acrylic paint. The dilution ratio is always the eye amount. Try spraying with an airbrush and adjust as you see how it goes. It can also change quite a bit depending on the season.🍔🍔🍔

That's too much weathering on the tank. Have to remember that the Tiger 2 wasn't in service that long before the war ended. I was in a mechanized unit for 6 years and our vehicles didn't look that weathered or beat up and they were old when I got to the unit.

@@darrengilbert7438wow this comment was a year ago, but camouflage colors were added to these tanks in the field typically thinned down with gasoline, I’ve studied a lot of references and colorized photos and saw that these tanks camo would often be scratched away down to the base color. And zimerate was a very weak material that OFTEN was able to be knocked off in large chunks etc, revealing the red primer. Our modern tanks today are painted with high quality paints in the factory which is why an m1a1 that was used in the 1st gulf war might still look pristine.

Well, the video you linked and the videos you were watching were all shot by German propaganda artists, who rarely captured (tank) film from actual combat. This is to say that they have a bias towards presenting footage of nice, new, clean, Tiger IIs rather than the disrepair they would fall to on the field.

how does the paint chip so easily? I use chipping fluid, and even with a very light coat of paint, I still have to rub a lot to get it to chip in places. Is the hairspray more fragile than chipping fluid?

There is also a wide variety of hairspray. After trying many different types, I finally settled on the one I'm using now. This is the cheapest hairspray available at discount stores. It is about 350 yen in Japanese yen.🍺
