All I can think of is that his 2 year old daughter won't have him there for her though all the passages of like. My Dad wasn't a first responder to anyone other than his family. He was my hero. I have so many wonderful thoughts and so often hear his voice when I'm sad or going through a difficult passage in my life. His daughter won't have that and it makes me so very sad. I'm 74 and still wish I could have a hug from my daddy.

In case you don’t know WSP undergo a one year training in which they are in a dorm situation away from their family for much of the time. We should be grateful for their commitment and sacrifice. While none of us wants to get a speeding ticket or worse they do a great job. Several years ago one of my children was picked up at about 2 a.m. for underage drinking. Let me tell you, at 2a.m. Seeing caller ID say Washington State Patrol is nothing any parent wants to experience . The officer who called immediately informed me that everyone was safe and arranged for us to meet with the detaining officer at a location of our convenience to retrieve our young adult. The driver was more impaired than our kiddo realized when entering the automobile. That trooper likely saved the lives of all three by pulling them over.

@@verysimlpesimon trust me, they did. I believe it was $1000, but have kind of washed it from my mind. They were 20, and were not super drunk, but the state has a zero tolerance policy, or did at that time. And it required a court appearance, no mail in situation. That is when I discovered that a “court ordered attorney” is actually billed to the customer/citizen, which truly surprised me.

When are motorists going to slow down and move over for anyone on the shoulder just doing their jobs? There are literally hundreds of close-call and near-miss incidents reported every day in WA, so it's clear that too many drivers are completely disregarding the state law in place to try and make law enforcement, highway maintenance workers, fire/EMS, and tow operators' risky jobs just a little safer.

@tymcfadden8496 Anyone committing a crime needs to be in jail. And stay there, stop releasing repeat offenders on ROR! Drugs need to be made, a criminal offense again! Based on the time, and that it was Saturday morning. I am more than willing to bet that Alcohol or drugs were involved. Given that the case is still under investigation. We don't know everything about the suspect. More details will come in time. Police also need to be given more power to arrest. Our legal system needs to hold criminals accountable!
