Kinga Głyk - Play along #2 Slap time

Play along :)
This is an idea for a short slap funky groove :)
I've recorded slow version for these who want to learn how to play it :)
Recently I decided to spend some time with slapping. It is not easy for me still ;P I hope this will be an exercise also for someone who stars slapping on the bass. Good luck and have fun!

This is really a nice Slap Bass groove. Funny thing: It sounds really great in the beginning. Then I listened to the slow version and after that the 'normal' version sounds silly fast :P

That's because you aren't hearing it in context with other instruments.

@@celticprogeny1569 I don't quite understand. I think it simply is silly fast. If a Riff is too fast for me, I start learning it at 50% speed but I stop Training it at 120% to play 100% with ease. I think this recorded Version is 120% ;)

Ok thank you! I was thinking Rotosounds but I thought they had red and blue windings...perhaps different rotos. You always have great tone but it's you, not the strings!

Although tone is in the "ear" of the beholder, there are so many tonal possibilities in just the way the strings are played and the area of the string pluck (near the bridge or near the neck, palm muting, technique, etc.). Then there's roundwound vs. flatwound strings...and then there's eq settings and so on and so on...but yes, where and how the strings are played has so much to do with the sound/tone along with which pickups are being used and their placement on the bass. Kinga just really has that perfect jazz bass tone IMO...and her slap and pop technique is on point! I could go on and on (too late!) but I'll stop here and I hope this answered your question!
