Streaming. It’s not profitable for artists who are signed to labels to own their music. Especially Bieber who has people write for him and prod for him, he’s getting a tiny cut. Might as well sell it and flip it into real estate or something else that can generate residual income at a higher return. lol Now if you Indie and do it all yourself it’s profitable or if you build another model that lets you keep your masters you good.

In about ten years the “artist” will become OBSOLETE. Technology, social media, and entertainment now exist under ONE realm. So now, the companies/labels are now realizing we don’t really need the artists we just need the MUSIC. Sure, an artist can continue touring till he/she croaks, unless he/she signed a 360 labels don’t see a dime of that money anyway. BUT, from a label standpoint, if I own an artists publishing, masters, AND their likeness. Instead of waiting for Artist A to make an album that maybe will or won’t hit with consumers, I can just generate an album under the artists name, test out certain songs thru different focus groups(i.e. Tik Tok, Instagram, Facebook etc.) and once a song sticks, generate a WHOLE ALBUM full of those songs and release it to the general public, without the artist getting in the way. Lately, between deaths, substance issues, lack of creativity or creative direction, and other factors, the human form of an artist is too much of a liability. Why deal with all that and compromise the bottom line, when the labels/tech companies can just cut out the middle man, put out music as they see fit and all parties are happy(so to speak). The companies buying of the catalogs is simply the companies way of using predictive processing by jamming a bunch of the artists songs into a machine, and generating what future songs SHOULD sound like from the artist. Genius. 😂😂😂😂

Artist are selling their catalog cause the reset coming and they don't have liquid. Plus artist made money off touring but touring isn't what it use to be like it was before covid. People not just dropping money like they use to to go see their fav artist at crazy prices. There are very few artist that can demand that and that only like bad bunny and maybe drake. The economy about to lock up so the artist aren't really touring like that. It's more expensive to tour especially the fact most these dudes is walking licks so they got to pay for more people or security. Most artist got this and that but it's different when you got liquid cause when you got your finances right you negotiate whatever you want but most artist are brain washed to live a lifestyle that's unstunstainable so they get gooped into selling what little they do own. That mail box money is different you can lose 200 Mil easy and with inflation money devalues content doesn't just goes up.
