Defiant is arguably better because it doesn't rely on you losing pokemon to get stronger, which also could mean your opponent could get more time to counter Kingambit if you try to use it last. Not that Supreme overlord is bad it's just that defiant is tactically better.

@@20centsaday54 though is true I would still say you switch from relying on your opponent to lower you stats to relying on your opponent to knock out your pokemon while more reasonable for that happening your whole plan to win is often not letting you pokemon go down in the first place, though end of the picture is the same both abilities are great and personal preference is what makes debating which ability is better fun, Supreme overlord is a great ability to make a comeback with but is risk vs reward as if it's your last pokemon or 2nd to last you might lose the battle, Defiant is good for countering stat lowering making it easy to punish pokemon who do so though of course defiant doesn't do anything if the opponent doesn't have stat lowering.

@Unnamed Tenno imo defiant is the better ability in doubles because the ability getting procted happens way more often. In singles it's very easy for more frail hyper offense teams to wear down an opponent and come in late game and clean up with a Supreme overlord set

Yeah I don't get the reccomendation for fairy. It's a decent defensive type sure, but Kingambit can't really take advantage of it while losing its offensive STABS. You could run Terablast, but it doesn't sit well with me having an essentially dead move every other time you can't use it. Flying is a good defensive option, as is Ghost another mentions, but there's also Bug, Poison, and Psychic to go with X-Scissor, Poison Jab, and Zen Headbutt respectively to go defensively while still having offensive options (the latter killing most fighting types turning the weakness on its head).
